Perth lies on the banks of River Tay, Scotlands longest river at 119 miles long. One of the most visited attractions in Perth and certainly something to put on your to do list is Scone Palace . This is where Scottish Kings were crowned on the Stone of Destiny which now rests with the Scottish crown jewels in Edinburgh Castle. Visitors to the Palace can see where the stone used to be placed for kings coronations, have a tour inside the stunning palace or stroll around the acres of gardens and try not to get lost in the hedge maze.

Perth is actually the ancient capital of Scotland and as you can imagine is steeped in rich Scottish traditions and history. The fact it is located on the banks of the River Tay makes the city of Perth an attractive place to stay on a break or if you are taking a holiday in Scotland. it is a compact city so easy to walk around. One of the most pleasing walks is in the park by the banks of the River Tay. Perth is also regarded as one of Scotland's leading culinary centres, with an array of restaurants and cafe's scattered across the city, many of which are within the large indoor shopping mall.

The city of Perth has one many awards including 'Britain in Bloom' for its famous parks and gardens and  'Best Large Town'. Now classed as a city, Perth is very lively with is entertainment, shops, cafes and restaurants.

Other things to see and do in Perth includes the newly refurbished Black Watch Museum, housed in gthe glorious grounds of Balhousie Castle, bringing vibrantly to life the proud past of this famous regiment.

In the area surrounding Perth, there are plenty other things to see and do. The re-generated city of Dundee is only 20 miles away. To the north and heading into the Highlands lies Dunkeld and Pitlochry. Glamis Castle is less than 30 minutes drive away. For the outdoor enthusiast, there is an Outdoor Activity Centre called "Nae Limits", near Pitlochry with lots of fun for all the family. There are whisky Distilleries to sample and to the south is St Andrews, the home of golf and an historical University Town. 

Perth is located right in the centre of Scotland and equal distance between Edinburgh and Glasgow with good road connections. Perth also has a Railway station with regular services to Glasgow, Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Inverness.
