The Atholl Palace Hotel in Pitlochry is prominently located in a unique hilltop location, where every room has an open view. In fact, the hotel can be seen from miles around and is considered to be the "Gateway" into Pitlochry. You will not forget your stay in what can only be described as one of the most majestic hotels in Perthshire. You can walk through the hotel grounds and into Pitlochry. It takes approximately 15 minutes.

Each of the 108 bedrooms is unique, due to the history and location of the Pitlochry Atholl Palace Hotel. Many of the rooms have original features and outstanding views. The Mountain View Rooms look over the gardens to Ben Y Vrackie while the Valley Rooms have stunning views over the Tummel Valley towards Pitlochry.

The Verandah Restaurant in the Atholl Palace Hotel is famed for its stunning views over the immense hotel grounds, and the reputation for its cuisine is now well established. In the lively conviviality of the Stagshead Bar, a fine selection of malt whiskies awaits your delectation. Pre-theatre and evening suppers are also available at the Atholl Palace Stagshead Bar.

The Atholl Palace Hotel was originally opened as the Athole Hydropathic in Victorian times. The Pitlochry Atholl Palace Hotel still offers Spa facilities to this day. The hotel has created the Lavender Spa. The spa draws on its heritage as a Victorian health hydro using the powers of the natural spring water, which comes from the mountain of Ben- Y -Vrackie. These waters are used as a tonic and are unique to the Atholl Palace as is the fresh Highland air.

Valley View Rooms  - These rooms offer superb views of the Tummel Valley and south towards the Tay.

Superior Family Room - Spacious family room sleeps 4 and contains 1 double and 2 single beds. Each room is unique

The Atholl Palace Hotel also has a four-poster room and four double-bedded rooms for that special occasion.

Turret suites (Suites) offer a separate round-shaped lounge and are located at the top of the hotel with 360-degree views.

Disabled Assisted Room - There is one bedroom on the ground floor that is most suited to wheelchair users. It has both a double and single bed and the en-suite bathroom has all the facilities required by wheelchair users.

Bar & Restaurant

The Atholl Palace Hotel Verandah Restaurant’s team of chefs use the very best of local Perthshire produce. This allows them to create a choice of mouth-watering menus full of game and fish from Scotland’s larder. The restaurant is open throughout the day offering wholesome lunches and traditional afternoon teas " with a view" in elegant surroundings.

The Stagshead Bar allows guests to relax in the comfort of the leather armchairs and be warmed by the log fire and try some of Scotland's finest whiskies. The Stagshead bar also serves traditional bar meals until 9 pm.

Breakfast is served from 8am - 9:30 am (Mon-Fri) 8 am - 10 am (Sat-Sun)

Traditional Afternoon Tea is served on the Verandah between 2.30 pm and 5.00 pm every day.

Dinner is served from 6:30pm - 9 pm

The Atholl Palace Hotel has an extensive leisure club with a swimming pool, Jacuzzi pool, plunge pool, steam room, sauna and gym and fitness room. The swimming pool water is still the spring water, filtered through the volcanic rock of Ben y Vrackie, famed for its healing properties.

The Lavender Spa at Atholl Palace Hotel gives guests the opportunity to have some of the most relaxing and beneficial treatments on offer from a simple manicure to hot stone therapy.

Directions to Atholl Palace Hotel in Pitlochry

By Road
Approaching Pitlochry from the South, take the A924 (signposted for Pitlochry) off the A9. After passing the Blair Athol distillery, on your right, continue under a railway bridge and turn right into the Atholl Palace entrance.

From the North, take the A924 (signposted for Pitlochry) off the A9. The A924 is the main street through Pitlochry. Continue right through the town and turn sharp left just before the railway bridge.

By Train
Pitlochry Station is on the main line between Edinburgh and Inverness.

The Atholl Palace Museum, set in the old servant's wing of the Atholl Palace Hotel, charts the history of the hotel from when it first opened as a Hydropathic establishment in 1878 through to its re-opening after World War II and beyond. There are tales of bankruptcy, colourful entrepreneurs, Victorian servants, unusual and torturous spa treatments, renovations, and wartime evacuees turning hotels into schools.

Room settings and tactile exhibits will be packed full of historical insights and anecdotes, perfect for minds both old and young to enjoy.

The Atholl Palace Museum is the only museum of its kind to celebrate the social history of a hotel. In 2005, when it first opened it was the first hotel museum in the UK. The Atholl Palace is the first hotel in the world to have its building recreated in Minecraft blocks as an educational tool for a museum.
