Oban – 5 Day Weather Report
Oban is known as the "Gateway to the Isles" due to the bustling ferry terminal transporting visitors to the Hebridean islands of Mull, Coll, Tiree, Barra, South Uist, Colonsay, Lismore and Islay.
Oban is a very scenic and picturesque town hugging the shoreline, with sandy bays and a busy harbour. Oban is dominated by "McGaigs Folly" - a roman amphitheatre style of design rising behind the town. Oban is without doubt one of the major tourist destinations on the West Coast of Scotland. There are many watersports available - sailing, diving, fishing, and pleasure cruises out to the nearby islands such as Staffa and its magical caves.
It is very easy to reach Oban from Central Scotland on the A82 which follows the west side of Loch Lomond and takes around 2 to 3 hours from Glasgow. However it may take longer as the scenery on this journey is very tempting to stop and admire! There is also a scenic railway line between Glasgow and Oban. The journey takes about 3.5 hours. The shops in Oban offer a wide variety from gifts and local crafts to everyday items.
