Once a major fishing port. Although still in operation, the harbour is mainly used for pleasure craft and the ferry which takes you over the sea to Skye. The rail terminal connects Mallaig to Fort William, and is known as one of the most scenic rail journeys in Europe. In the summer there is a steam train service available.
