For centuries, Buxton has been a spa town, popular with visitors from around the world. At 1,300 ft above see level Buxton is situated at the heart of the Peak District, amid some of England's most beautiful scenery. The town's rich history features Roman settlers, royal prisoners, outlaws and noble benefactors.
The town's magnificent architecture includes the elegant Crescent, ornamental gardens, Frank Matcham's admired Opera House (pictured above) and a University campus set under the largest unsupported dome in the country.
Buxton is host to the Annual Festival and a lot of venues around the town contribute to the largest Festival Fringe in England.
