Hamilton is the main town in South Lanarkshire, in west-central Scotland,  situated just over 10 miles from Glasgow and 35 miles from Edinburgh on the south bank of the River Clyde.  It is the third largest town in Scotland.

 The town was established in the mid 15th century by the Hamilton family  whose presence lives on, not only in the towns name but also in main attractions of the town. The Hamilton Mausoleum is a incredible domed tomb which was built for the 10th Duke in 1858 and stands a short distance from the town centre. Chatelherault, their former hunting lodge towers over the town from its location in Chatelherault Country Park, where there are some lovaley walks.
Hamilton has a vibrant town centre with modern shops, a multi-screen cinema, night clubs and restaurants.  Other popular attractions include Hamilton Park Race Course, the Water Palace Leisure Centre and on the edge of the town, the massive Strathclyde Country Park, with  Scotland's largest theme Park, set on the side of the lake.
