Aboyne is approximately 30 miles west of Aberdeen and 12 miles west of Banchory.

Aboyne sits at the mouth of Glen Tanar, which runs south-west from here for 10 miles into the Grampian hills. This area is ideal for walking, mountain biking or horse riding due to the glen, with few steep gradients and some glorious mature Caledonian pine trees.
