Things To Do In Inverness

Looking for things to do in Inverness? The highland capital of Inverness is a busy, modern and exciting city with a real buzz. Looking for the perfect Highland destination for short breaks, late deals and holidays? Then this is the place to be purely because there’s so many things to see and do not only in Inverness itself but also in the surrounding area.

The Highland capital is the UK’s fastest growing city, split into two halves by the River Ness, which runs through the centre of Inverness giving the city centre an open feel, with riverside walks, together with wide open spaces. Many of our hotels are located on the riverside.

Inverness is also the main shopping centre in the Highlands with people travelling from as far away at the Scottish Islands to shop here. The Indoor Eastgate Shopping Mall has all the main branded stores together with local boutiques and craft shops. Inverness Agua-dome is a lively place to go for all the family which is famous for the near vertical Nessie Slide. There are a host of more cultural things to see and do in the city including 19th century Inverness Cathedral and Inverness Art Gallery & Museum.

In the evening Inverness is great for a night out, with a lively music scene and Eden Court Theatre has a full yearly programme of theatre, plays and concerts.

Inverness is located on the Moray Coast and we recommend joining one of the cruise boats which takes you out into the Firth where you’re almost guaranteed sightings of the resident pod of dolphins.

Around Inverness there is there is plenty to see & do. In fact you’ll be spoilt for choice. Visit the Battle of Culloden site and visitor centre where the last battle was fought on UK soil in 1745. It is a fascinating yet eerie place to be. 4 miles south of Inverness lies the most famous loch in the world – Loch Ness, 27 miles long and as deep as the mountains are high – resident to its famous monster “Nessie”. There are cruises out on to the loch which is perfect for a photo opportunity. Stop off at Urquhart Castle on the shoreline of Loch Ness where many sightings of the monster have allegedly been seen. Further south lies Fort Augustus and then Fort William.
