The Argyll Hotel in Dunoon built in 1837 with its shore front location boasts spectacular panoramic views across the Firth of Clyde. The Argyll Hotel is near the shops and local attractions such as, the beautiful Cowal Peninsula, Ben More Botanic Gardens and the Castle House Museum. For the more energetic there is a number of activity centres in the area - Ben More Outdoor Centre, Dunoon Leisure Centre, Quad Bike hire, outdoor adventure centre and Velvet path trekking and riding centre. Golfers can enjoy the stunning views from the Cowal Golf course.

The Argyll Hotel has 33 en suite bedrooms with many of the rooms offering sea views or panoramic views over the Firth of Clyde. One of the hotels most popular room's is room 26 the Tower Room. Many believe this to be the hotels honeymoon suite but in fact it is a twin bedded room, but with windows on three sides, it is a magnificent setting and unquestionably offers a panoramic view of the whole Clyde Estuary. Each room offers individually controlled heaters, satellite colour television, radio and tea/coffee making facilities, telephone and hairdryer.

 

Whether you are just coming to eat at one of the restaurants or are staying in the hotel as a guest, the aim of the Argyll Hotel is to offer you service of the highest quality and genuine hospitality.

The Argyll Hotel have a reputation for our fresh food produce special chosen for the wide selection of dishes available on our menus. The two Argyll restaurants reflect this with seasonal changes and local ingredients –ensuring that dining is a satisfying and enjoyable experience. Choose from either the Argyll Restaurant or Ristorante Italiano Rio.

Argyll Restaurant is well frequented with locals who enjoy the traditional Scottish décor, warm friendly atmosphere and fine views of The River Clyde.

The menus change daily always reflecting a Scottish theme. There are also specially prepared menus for celebratory occasions. The specials of the day and Sunday lunch are great value for money. With at least 10000 servings a year, the traditional steak pie is always a firm favourite!

The restaurant caters for most of the town's various clubs and associations and accommodates up to 75 guests who can enjoy impressive views of Dunoon Pier and River Clyde while dining.

There's only one place in Dunoon for fine Italian cuisine - and that's Rio !

The most popular restaurant in town is actually located within the Argyll Hotel. Locals and hotel guests alike appreciate the stylish Italian décor, beautifully prepared tables and light airy atmosphere.

The Rio menu is designed with a Sicilian accent ranging from pizza and pasta dishes to grilled entrees with delightful sauces.

The Rio bar is highly adept at creating a wide range of signature cocktails – a cool start for that party night out! Special dining events for lunch and dinner are easily organized. Always on offer is the inexpensive daily menu del giorno, Saturday pranzo menu and Sunday cena menu.

Last but not least is Dunoon's favourite Lounge Bar- The Clyde Suite. From morning till evening its perfect location provides an ideal place to get together for both locals and hotel guests alike. Guests really enjoy the panoramic views of the Clyde Estuary.

Morning coffees, fresh pastries, and high teas are always served with friendly Scottish hospitality. But most of all, The Clyde Suite is renowned for its sumptuous bar meals.

Every day there is a wide menu variety of freshly made soups, superb main courses and desserts. Also on offer are light snacks and selection of Indian Pakora! Naturally the seafood dishes are all freshly prepared daily by the chefs. That's why a visit to The Clyde Suite is not just recommended, it's a must!

Excellent road network from Glasgow makes easy to reach Argyll Hotel, Dunoon, exit the M 74 at junction 4. Follow signs for Glasgow centre M8. Continue on M8 to Greenock and then A8 to Gourock (27 miles from Glasgow ).
There are 2 ferry services from Gourock to Dunoon, Calmac and Western Ferries. Calmac runs every hour and docks at Dunoon pier adjacent to The Argyll hotel. Western Ferries has a more frequent service to Hunter's Quay, a 5 minutes drive to the Argyll and is considerably less expensive.
For a scenic and leisurely drive, you can follow the alternative route A82 via the Erskine Bridge and Lomond National Park to reach Dunoon by road following A815 (70 miles from Glasgow ).
