Helpful friendly staff though because of new alcohol legislation had to repeatedly explain we had £15 drink spend per person per night behind bar. However at the end of the stay the bill was correct. Bedroom and en suite were nicely decorated and spotless. Could have done with more dedicated car parking spaces. No significant problems encountered and had a very enjoyable stay.

Everything OK bar the food just not good enough for this type of hotel. we decided to eat at 8.30 p.m. and we felt they had shut up for the night and there was then a rush to lay a dinner table (everything else laid for breakfast) and it seemed like rustle us up a meal. meals awful, foreign staff who do their best but do not undersatand you

At first was very disappointed with the hotel. When we arrived there were workmen working on the stairs at at one point carpet left up which was a trip hazzard. The bedroom although mainly clean was shabby with dirty & broken shower unit. Staff were very friendly and helpful but really glad we hadn't paid full price as we didn't feel it would have been worth it. For the record we visit many hotels in Scotland and in Europe and would hate to think what foreign visitors would think of our standards.

Nice hotel with friendly staff, booked a double room and were initially put in an old room that had not been refurbished and desperately needed to be! Enquired about being moved and were given a refurbished room that you could have no complaints about. Breakfast was ok, but I've had a lot better and they didn't seem to have the full menu or enough food ready to cope with demand (the hotel did seem busy). Service from staff was on the whole very good and it was good value for money

Although the hotel looks a little past its best,the bedroom was excellent,roomy and well appointed.The Staff particularly the Manager and restaurant staff were very obliging and could not have been more helpful.The food was very good. If there is a down side there may be a problem with the car parking due to limited availability and although there is reasonable public parking adjacent to the hotel that again has a limited number of spaces.

We were a a party of 3 couples. 2 of the couples were in refurbished rooms which were small but of very good quality whereas the third couple had an older room in which the bathroom facilities (water pressure, in particular) were not very good. A small complaint of an otherwise extremely enjoyable and comfortable stay in a beautiful and charming town.
