The Morar Hotel will close for the Winter from the 28th October 2012 until May 2013.

The Morar Hotel is only 3 miles from Mallaig, the southern Gateway to the Isle of Skye. The hotel boasts some breathtaking views of the famous Silver Sands of Morar and the Inner Hebridean Islands of Rum, Muck and Eigg.

The Morar Hotel was originally built as a station hotel and it is only metres from the train station. When the hotel first opened in 1902 it would take seven and a half hours by coach from Fort William. Today Morar can be reached in under an hour from Fort William by road or by the popular steam train that travels along the breathtaking West Highland line in the summer months.

The Morar Hotel in Morar offers great late deals and special offers on short breaks throughout the year.

The Morar Hotel is situated on one of Scotland's popular tourist routes - The Road to the Isles. The Road to the Isles routing stretches from Fort William to Glenfinnan and Lochailort, through Arisaig and Morar ending at Mallaig. It is a route steeped in history as it was along this route that Bonnie Prince Charlie found safety and security in this lovely area of the Scottish Highlands.

The historic village of Morar is set in one of the most beautiful regions in the Western Highlands. In Scots Gaelic the village of Morar is called Mordhobhar meaning 'Big Water', this name was given to this village as it sits by Loch Morar the deepest expanse of fresh water in Western Europe. This loch is ideal fishing in and permits are available from the Morar Hotel. Other activities popular in this area are walking or perhaps a round of golf at the Traigh nine-hole golf course.
