A guest said the following about West Highland Hotel:

The main problem was not the hotel, which was friendly, helpful, comfortable if dated and had superb views from the dining room and conservatory. When we arrived, they had no record of our booking, which was supposed to have been forwarded by your organisation. Nevertheless, they had a room available, fortunately. As this has happened on previous occassions, it is clearly a problem with Internet bookings and central booking systems. To have so narrowly avoided "no room at the inn" in a remote location is hardly reassuring!

A guest said the following about West Highland Hotel:

The hotel was friendly enough but their organisation was chaotic - they tried to bill us as if we were not on the CB deal. The room was pretty poor but clean, old fittings, things broken, no view. The food was good but largely because they gave us the a la carte menu instead of the one for the CB deal. We wouldn't go there again.

In response, West Highland Hotel said the following:

We are all very disapointed you did not enjoy your stay at the hotel, we are a family run traditional hotel which may appear chaotic in a slic modern world, but I can assure you we are not. If you had let us know you were disapointed when you were at the hotel we would have been able to address your issues however we are unable to do anything now. Rooms are allocated on a first come best room basis - only 3 rooms in the hotel have no view the rest overlook the harbour or the sea to Skye.

Irene Clark said the following about West Highland Hotel:

The staff were very friendly and helpful and my room had a lovley view. Breakfast was great but dinner - I am a vegitarian - was not good at all. Despite this I really enjoyed my stay.

In response, West Highland Hotel said the following:

Dear Mrs Clark, I'm so sorry you did not enjoy the food in the evening, we try and offer a range of stir fries, omelettes, salads, vegetarian spring rolls, lasagne and are opportunity to suggest any alternatives, if this was not offered to you then please let me know and I will investigate this further. My sincere apologies Sine Davis

Brian McCafferty said the following about West Highland Hotel:

This hotel is extremley dated and not worthy of its rating. The food served was of the lowest quality and the focus was more on cost saving tan quality when purchased. We managed to stay for 2 nights and left before theend of our stay due to the hotel in general. I would not stay nor recommend to anyone. Service was ok but everything esle was awful.

In response, West Highland Hotel said the following:

The hotel is now under new management, we appreciate your feedback and are endeavouring to upgrade our service.

DENISE MCGUIGAN said the following about West Highland Hotel:

We had a great time in the West Highland Hotel. Food great, service great especially the girl who booked us in and was present a lot throughout our stay, cannot remember her name but know she said she was from Edinburgh. Booking was easy, clear and concise. would definitley recommend both Classic Britian and the WH Hotel, Mallaig. D.

A guest said the following about West Highland Hotel:

Stayed here recently for a night. A proper letter to acknowledge my written booking confirmation was a nice touch. The public areas seem to have had a lot of money spent on them recently and look smart. There is no lift. The hotel has superb views and is near the village centre, but it is up a steep hill and taxis are scarce so perhaps not for older people on their own unless they have their own transport. Bar is fine and adjoining conservatory is pleasant on summer evenings, overlooking nearby islands.Room was large and comfortable with en suite bath. Decor was reasonable.Evening menu was OK - mainly fish, but Mallaig is a fishing port. The three kippers (smoked fish) I had for breakfast were superb - my wife had the full British breakfast which was more traditional and huge. When I left, there was a sign saying there was no lunch that day, butFantastic views, well located and comfortable, it's just Above Average for this type of hotel when we stayed.
