BEDROOMS _ 8 / 10 SERVICE _ 10 / 10 FOOD _ 9 / 10 STAYED _ 25 Feb 2010 | amanda gillie said the following about Aston Hotel: Second time stay at the Aston, and again found it nice and relaxing, the bed was a bit on the really soft side and as it was 2 single mattresses zipped together in the middle it was uncomfortable when you lay on the seam, but otherwise ok. Hotel not too busy during stay, so mealtimes were quiet, wasn't too sure about new menu but food was nice and plenty of it (but alot of fish dishes. Would definately stay again. staff are nice and helpful |

BEDROOMS _ 8 / 10 SERVICE _ 7 / 10 FOOD _ 10 / 10 STAYED _ 13 Feb 2010 | A guest said the following about Aston Hotel: third visit to hotel, rooms very good, food excellent but dinner service first night very very slow. Waited 1 hour for starters, no bread rolls given to our table, we had to ask and no ice bucket for wine, although everyone else seemed to get one with their white wine around us. This was not their usual excellent service. |

BEDROOMS _ 10 / 10 SERVICE _ 10 / 10 FOOD _ 10 / 10 STAYED _ 12 Feb 2010 | Stuart McNicoll said the following about Aston Hotel: Our stay at the Aston was lovely. The staff were all really nice and even when the Saturday evening (13/2/10) turned into a nightmare (for them!) they did try to keep smiling. Thanks to Paul we resolved the problem there and then and hopefully the kitchen will learn from the mistakes of that night and keep the staff informed of their situation. Well done we will be back! |

BEDROOMS _ 10 / 10 SERVICE _ 10 / 10 FOOD _ 10 / 10 STAYED _ 12 Feb 2010 | Ray Dillon said the following about Aston Hotel: Stayed for a weekend in February which coincided with Valentine's holiday. The location and surroundings of the hotel are first class, set in 100 acres of beautiful gardens and Victorian buildings.
Could not fault the superior room which was spacious, well appointed and with a large bathroom with power shower. Despite being on the ground floor adjacent to an access corridor and lift, it was extremely quiet. Staff were very attentive and were always on hand without being intrusive. Food was very good, freshly prepared, well presented and plenty of it! Dinner on the Saturday night was very busy and there was an inevitable delay in service. As we were there to relax, this did not matter.
If there was any point on which to be really, really picky about, it was that the white wine was not chilled prior to service. But hey, if that's the only 'fault' I'll take that ANYTIME!!
All in all, an extremely relaxing time in a very welcoming small hotel. |

BEDROOMS _ 9 / 10 SERVICE _ 9 / 10 FOOD _ 10 / 10 STAYED _ 27 Dec 2009 | C Pearman said the following about Aston Hotel: We had a lovely break at this hotel, it is set in beautiful grounds and the Hotel itself is lovely, the staff were very nice and the food was exceptionally good. We would definately go back. The ony criticism we have is that one of out party was disabled and in his disabled room the telephone was at the other side of room which was no use at all. A review of the disabled rooms from a disabled person view might be a good idea. Apart from that we had a fabulous time. Highly recommend this hotel. |

Great location just on the outskirts of the town, but with a handy bus service, as parking in Dumfries can be a problem. Enjoyed our break very much, will stay in the hotel again. |

BEDROOMS _ 9 / 10 SERVICE _ 8 / 10 FOOD _ 9 / 10 STAYED _ 15 Jun 2009 | A guest said the following about Aston Hotel: Very welcoming and friendly staff. Everything was very good and we enjoyed our stay in all respects. One point at breakfast time which could be improved on was staff making sure all requirements (butter, marmalade/jams, tea plates and cutlery) on the table are replenished before seating further people for their breakfast. Also we were shown to a table by one member of staff, only to find that the other member of staff had already alloted that table to another couple who were temporarily at the buffet bar which caused some embarrasment for us, as the other couple returned and told us in no uncertain terms that we had to wait to be seated at a table which of course we had done unknown to them. |

BEDROOMS _ 7 / 10 SERVICE _ 8 / 10 FOOD _ 7 / 10 STAYED _ 27 Mar 2009 | Sandra Goldie said the following about Aston Hotel: Overall, very pleasant stay. Staff very welcoming and helpful. Only criticism is that within the DBB, the wine was not included in the daily dinner allowance. This was not pointed out to us at the time, so we incurred additional costs we did not expect. The allowance should be all-inclusive of food and drink. Our room had only one light which worked, most of the lamps needed new batteries |

BEDROOMS _ 6 / 10 SERVICE _ 10 / 10 FOOD _ 5 / 10 STAYED _ 24 Jun 2008 | A guest said the following about Aston Hotel: Really good rooms in a modern block behind an older house where the reception, bar and restaurant are situated. Set in lovely landscaped gardens (part of the Crichton estate) that are open to the public. A lovely peaceful setting with great views. The restaurant was the weak point - maybe they were just trying too hard. Quite expensive and not that great, but the view is wonderful. We'd definitely stay here again.

BEDROOMS _ 10 / 10 SERVICE _ 7 / 10 FOOD _ 5 / 10 STAYED _ 9 Apr 2008 | A guest said the following about Aston Hotel: I stayed at the Aston for one night in early April 2008 (business trip). The reception staff were very friendly and helpful. The Aston Hotel is very bright, modern and comfortable. The room was extremely well appointed, with lovely fixtures and fittings, and a HUGE double (King-sized? Emperor-sized?!!) bed. The bathroom was excellent too: very bright spacious and modern. The one thing that let the Aston down somewhat was breakfast in the restaurant: the pot of tea was served cold, toast likewise. Also, the tables weren’t cleaned away as quickly as they could have been. And tables were re-set without having been fully cleaned for the next guest/s. The impression I got was that the restaurant was understaffed; there appeared to be only two waiting staff on the morning I was there, and this seemed to be the reason for the poor service. This took the edge off an otherwise excellent stay. Overall, however, the Aston provides great value for money, and as such is to be recommended.

BEDROOMS _ 10 / 10 SERVICE _ 10 / 10 FOOD _ 10 / 10 STAYED _ 18 Feb 2008 | A guest said the following about Aston Hotel: We stayed at the Aston on recommendation from friends. The location was lovely being in a parkland setting with views to the distant hills. We received a friendly and efficient welcome on arrival, our room was spacious, very well appointed and spotlessly clean. Both Dinner and Breakfast were very good. The choice was excellent, dishes were beautifully presented and cooked to perfection. One aspect we were especially impressed with was the sight of the Immaculately dressed Hotel Manager regularly checking all aspects of service were running smoothly. We will return
