Directions to the Royal Highland Hotel, Inverness

By road

From Glasgow, there is a choice of routes. The most direct is A/M80 via Stirling, then M9 to Perth, and A9 to Inverness. Or you can indulge in the scenic delights of the A 82 via Loch Lomond, Rannoch Moor, Glencoe and past Fort William and Ben Nevis, then skirting the western side of Loch Ness virtually all the way.

From Edinburgh and Edinburgh Airport – M90 to the outskirts of Perth then join the A9 all the way to Inverness

From Aberdeen - A96 all the way to Inverness

From the south - M1/A1 to Edinburgh then as above, or M6/M74/M73 then A/M80 and onward as above.

All of these above routes converge at a large roundabout just on the southwest side of the city – from there follow the signs to Inverness town/city centre, looking for the railway station, and the hotel is in Station Square adjacent to the station.

 

By rail

There is a daily service from London Kings Cross direct to Inverness, via York, Newcastle and Edinburgh. Operated by GNER (link)

There are regular daily services operated by First Scotrail (link) from Glasgow, Edinburgh, Perth, Aberdeen and Wick/Thurso. And why not enjoy at some stage in your visit the scenic splendour of the North Highland line to Kyle of Lochalsh and onward to Skye, Scotland's romantic isle - literally door to door from the hotel.

By coach

A variety of national companies offer quick, efficient services to Inverness from major cities in Scotland and the UK, often at budget prices. Inverness bus/coach station is 5 minutes from the hotel.

Is there any carparking at the hotel?
9 private spaces which are free outside the hotel on a first come first served basis. Public carpark at the train station free off-peak hours but payment required during peak hours. Multi story at the bus station £7.50per day reduces over subsequent days to £5 per day after 3 days.
Is the breakfast a continental or full cooked breakfast?
A continental breakfast is included, cooked option is available for a £7pp supplement.
Is there parking at the hotel?
There is around 10 spaces out the front of the hotel that are first come first serve. If they are full there is a public car park close by called Rose Street multi-story car park where you can park for a small fee.
Is the Royal Highland Hotel pet friendly?
Yes pets are very welcome to join you on your stay with us, please be aware there is a fee of £15 per dog per night.
Are there other bars open in the area under the current restrictions?
There are a handful of bars with outside seating that are open until 10pm. Most have new heating and rain cover too to help with the sometimes unforgivable Scottish weather.
