The Royal Highland Hotel's Ash Restaurant & Lounge Bar is a favourite with locals and visitors due to it's classical design and varied menu featuring many dishes inspired by traditional Scottish Cuisine. The restaurant is open for both lunch and dinner. All the ingredients used come from within the local area, the Shellfish and fish come from the Moray Firth and Hebridean ports, and some of the world's finest beef, lamb and game are naturally-reared on nearby farms.

The Royal Highland Hotels Grand Lounge allows guests to enjoy pre dinner and after dinner drinks from liquers to wonderful Scottish malts.

Directions to the Royal Highland Hotel, Inverness

By road

From Glasgow there is a choice of routes. The most direct is A/M80 via Stirling, then M9 to Perth, and A9 to Inverness. Or you can indulge in the scenic delights of the A 82 via Loch Lomond, Rannoch Moor, Glencoe and past Fort William and Ben Nevis, then skirting the western side of Loch Ness virtually all the way.

From Edinburgh and Edinburgh Airport – M90 to outskirts of Perth then join the A9 all the way to Inverness

From Aberdeen - A96 all the way to Inverness

From the south - M1/A1 to Edinburgh then as above, or M6/M74/M73 then A/M80 and onward as above.

All of these above routes converge at a large roundabout just on the south west side of the city – from there follow the signs to Inverness town/city centre, looking for the railway station, and the hotel is in Station Square adjacent to the station.

There is a daily service from London Kings Cross direct to Inverness, via York, Newcastle and Edinburgh. Operated by GNER (link)

There are regular daily services operated by First Scotrail (link) from Glasgow, Edinburgh, Perth, Aberdeen and Wick/Thurso. And why not enjoy at some stage in your visit the scenic splendour of the North Highland line to Kyle of Lochalsh and onward to Skye, Scotland's romantic isle - literally door to door from the hotel.

By coach

A variety of national companies offer quick, efficient services to Inverness from major cities in Scotland and the UK, often at budget prices. Inverness bus/coach station is 5 minutes form the hotel.

Notice(04/04/12): Our Grand Wallace Hall, where we serve our breakfast and dinners is presently under renovation, under the supervision of Historic Scotland. The work had begun in January and is expected to be finished by early May, and as being a listed building and part of the heritage of Inverness (being built 1856), the working technique is quite complex and unique. During this time, we have relocated our Breakfast and Dinner service to the Ash Restaurant and to the Gallery dining area between 7am-9:30am & 6pm-9:30pm for evening meals; this is so that we can provide the meal service to you with minimum disruption. We kindly request that you book you meal timings with our reception staff at check in, and we would like to apologise for any inconvenience that this may have caused.

Please note: If you have booked dinner, then this is a choice of Three Course plus Tea / Coffee A la carte menu, with meal allowance of £24 per person on food only; any amount over the allowance & drinks bills has to settled directly.
