We liked the fact that you could choose to use your meal allowance in either of the two restaurants.
Food was very good value for money.
Although not great TV watchers, we felt the choice of channels available left a little bit to be desired. |

BEDROOMS _ 8 / 10 SERVICE _ 10 / 10 FOOD _ 10 / 10 STAYED _ 21 May 2010 | B Sykes said the following about Cairndale Hotel & Leisure Club: We enjoyed our stay immensely and the rooms, dinners and especially the breakfasts were first class. All the staff we came into contact with were very helpful and pleasant.
The one critisism I have, which may seem petty, was, in the bar, the guiness was from cans and processed through a new system making it look like draught but certainly not tasting like it. I would think there would be many Irish people visiting the hotel and I wonder what they would think of it.

In addition, the room was extremely warm. The meals were very good but choice was a bit limited had your stay been of a longer duration. In general, enjoyed the hotel and the break. |

BEDROOMS _ 4 / 10 SERVICE _ 7 / 10 FOOD _ 8 / 10 STAYED _ 11 Apr 2010 | A guest said the following about Cairndale Hotel & Leisure Club: The room was average, if it was "Best Available" as per your website,I am glad we did not get one of the others!
The radiator was on full, the receptionist provided a fan and did her best to get it sorted but a maintenance man was unavailable on Sunday evening, but put it right on Monday morning.
There was no food available after 2.30 on Sunday, unless we had the restaurant dinner (we could not do so as we were going out to a show at 7.30 therefore had to go across town for a pub meal)
When we had the restaurant dinner, the food and service was excellent on the Monday 12th but while the meal was good on the next night the service was moderate at best. |

Food was excellent, though children's menu was a bit basic for older child, and service sometimes a bit slow (drinks forgotten twice) though others were lovely. Kids really enjoyed the pool, and changing rooms had the best hairdryer! Good value. |

BEDROOMS _ 7 / 10 SERVICE _ 2 / 10 FOOD _ 1 / 10 STAYED _ 27 Mar 2010 | alan mc mahon said the following about Cairndale Hotel & Leisure Club: At hotel for one night, kept awake until 00.15 due to noise from pa system below our room then awakened at 06.00 by two people having an argument which staff said would have been coming from staff quarters near us, argument went on until 07.30, e-mailed management got no reply, room was good but obviously wrong location in hotel, beware room 51. It was also impossible to get a drink at the bar at night prior to going out for a meal, there was a wedding on and a cabaret on which left a small bar area and about a dozen seats which were taken up by people waiting to go to the cabaret/evening reception. We ended up having to source a bar outwith the hotel but very few decent bars in the surrounding area. Breakfast was self service, food was kept in covered trays but luke warm and inedible unless you got it when it was replenished. Would I go back ? resounding NO |

BEDROOMS _ 7 / 10 SERVICE _ 5 / 10 FOOD _ 10 / 10 STAYED _ 26 Mar 2010 | C McGurk said the following about Cairndale Hotel & Leisure Club: Did enjoyed our stay at The Cairndale, everything went very well until the Saturday evening when the lift broke down when we were in it. I realise that this was totally outwith the control of the hotel but I do think they could have done more for us. The button in the lift for the phone did not work and the alarm bell did not seem to bring anyone to our aid. I had to use my mobile phone to get in touch with the hotel. When someone did come to try and get us out they did not speak to us or let us know what was going on and it was not until we shouted down the lift shaft that they spoke to us! I do realise that the hotel was very busy that night but, even when we had been rescued it did not seem to be a very big deal to them. My sister, who was in the lift with me, is not very fit and had a great deal of trouble climbing out. |

BEDROOMS _ 6 / 10 SERVICE _ 8 / 10 FOOD _ 8 / 10 STAYED _ 26 Mar 2010 | A guest said the following about Cairndale Hotel & Leisure Club: Enjoyed our stay at the Cairndale Hotel although they would benefit from having a residents lounge where you can sit in comfort and have a drink. We had to go out and find a local bar as they didn't start serving drinks till 6.30pm! Staff were very friendly especially restaurant manager and waiting staff. Shower in our room was very poor and could do with being updated. Room average but beds and pillows very comfortable. Leisure facilities first class. Would definitely go back and would recommend to others. |

BEDROOMS _ 5 / 10 SERVICE _ 6 / 10 FOOD _ 0 / 10 STAYED _ 13 Mar 2010 | A guest said the following about Cairndale Hotel & Leisure Club: The hotel bar was closed for a private function - and the room we were given was directly above this.
The music was so loud the floor to our room vibrated. we got fed up after midnight and went down and complained. the staff were helpful and found us another room at the other side of hotel. It was unfortunate this hadn't been thought of when allocating rooms. |

The hotel is well situated, friendly and very good value for money. The food was excellent, particulalry on the Sat, most party nights it often feels like cook/chill, but not at the Cairndale. Well presented and varied.

BEDROOMS _ 7 / 10 SERVICE _ 9 / 10 FOOD _ 9 / 10 STAYED _ 14 Nov 2009 | Lorraine Miller said the following about Cairndale Hotel & Leisure Club: We had a lovely stay at the Cairndale hotel despite there being a problem with the heating at the dinner dance and one of our party members having a problem with the heating in their room. The only thing I was very disappointed with was the fact that by booking BB&DD thought Classic Britian I ended up paying over £20.00 more than my brother who booked BB through Classic Britian but booked the DD seperated, it seems as though I have paid for a dinner dance for a one year old who did not eat anything! |

BEDROOMS _ 8 / 10 SERVICE _ 8 / 10 FOOD _ 7 / 10 STAYED _ 8 Nov 2009 | Iain Firth said the following about Cairndale Hotel & Leisure Club: Room was good but far too warm with no controls to alter. There was also nowhere to put the sponge or soap while showering which was annoying.
The staff were generally good, friendly and helpful.
We only had a choice of a la carte when we were there, which up to a point was fine but there was only a choice of 6-7 items which would have been restrictive if we had been there longer. On our second night they could not supply two chicken dishes. At breakfast we would have preferred individual pots of tea and coffee as the large communal ones were usually not very warm. It would also have been better to have had some fried eggs ready with the other items rather than have to order and wait for one. That said the food was generally good and presented well. Our stay was enjoyable with only these few niggles. |

BEDROOMS _ 7 / 10 SERVICE _ 7 / 10 FOOD _ 8 / 10 STAYED _ 9 Oct 2009 | David Hughes said the following about Cairndale Hotel & Leisure Club: This hotel break proved to be fairly good with the hotel facilities being to our liking. The leisure club was very good and not too busy when we visited. The rooms were basic even although we were seemingly upgraded to superior. The complimentry coffee/milk etc were not replaced for our second day, neither were any used toiletries. The room could have done with a small table which we missed.
Some of the staff were dour, while others were very friendly. The food was good although they run out of haddock when we ordered at 8.000pm first night. Canapes to start and tablet with coffee were supplied first night with neither on the second night. Good choice at breakfast with evrything being hot and fresh. Not much room at the buffet tables when it waqs busy.
Overall, a fairly good weekend which, with a few changes, could have been very good. Special praise some of the excellent dining room staff who were far more friendly than others. |

Meals in the hotel were ok, presented nicely but all our meals were over cooked. The staff were nice and helpful although one girl on reception was abrupt when she would not let us book in before 2pm. a nice hotel in a nice town. |

BEDROOMS _ 5 / 10 SERVICE _ 5 / 10 FOOD _ 4 / 10 STAYED _ 4 Aug 2009 | Janis Kennedy said the following about Cairndale Hotel & Leisure Club: My husband and I stayed at the Cairndale two years ago and very much enjoyed the hotel, therefore I decided to take my elderly mother there for three nights. Unfortunately this was not as good a stay. The hotel is starting to look very tired, the windows are filthy and the food was certainly not as good as before. There is a very small bar off the foyer which isn't exactly inviting and the only other area is the room they use for cabarets. This is large and rather dull and does not provide any atmosphere for people to sit in during the evenings. I must advise you here that I did fill in a questionnaire at the hotel and added that I did not want any negative answers re the hotel to reflect on staff who in the majority of cases were very helpful and friendly. I did use the leisure facilities and to be honest this is one of the few welcoming service areas of the hotel during the day, ie to get a coffee. I am sorry to be negative but feel that Classic Britain should be aware of how uninviting the bar area is and the general dinginess of the hotel at the moment. My husband and I always use Classic Britain fo weekend breaks and have visited the Buchanan Arms, the Crown at Wetherall and the hotel at Rhu and we have always come away with a good impression.
I would be happy to answer any questions you may have on my comments.

We took our 10 month old son with us and everyone was exceptionally nice and welcoming. The only problem was that the digital switch over had just happened and there were very little channels working on the TV which was not good when you were spending most of your evening in the room with a baby. |

BEDROOMS _ 8 / 10 SERVICE _ 0 / 10 FOOD _ 8 / 10 STAYED _ 3 Jul 2009 | A guest said the following about Cairndale Hotel & Leisure Club: I think the service is terrible, i don't blame the staff as there training must have been limited. My husband booked this as an anniversary surprise but was dissapointed. We went to Reivers restaurant and the food was good but my husband ordered a steak (well done) which came out with blood oozing all over his plate..which would turn even the hardest of stomachs. We had to ask for a drink and then waited 10 mins before asking where it was, the wine was definetly not Stowells as advertised. The lager had no gas and had to say about that. The 2nd night we went to eat at Sawney Beans and the food was good but there was no gas in coke, the staff gave a 200ml bottle of coke with the promise they would return with a glass of coke as soon as gas was changed..yet to see it. On checkout i asked who i would complain to re the service and the receptionist is yet to ask me what the problem was. I have stayed at this hotel 3 or 4 years ago and would not return as it has gone downhill. I will definately remember this anniversary. Unhappy customer. |

BEDROOMS _ 4 / 10 SERVICE _ 6 / 10 FOOD _ 2 / 10 STAYED _ 3 Jul 2009 | A guest said the following about Cairndale Hotel & Leisure Club: Very poor stay. this is the second time I have stayed at this hotel, the first being about eight years ago when I found the experience very pleasant. Whilst renovation has taken place on some rooms, the "upgraded" room we were allocated did not appear to be upgraded to me. the room itself very noisy at night (nightclub near the hotel) and we had to ask for a room change on the second day. I had to return my meal on the first night as steak we ordered was floppy and grey and very poorly cooked, - the hotel said that they had "had some trouble with the meat supplier" but this completely ruined the relaxation of the meal. On checking out the bill was wrong, overcharged by about £80, they had us down on a b/b deal when we had booked a dinner bed and breakfast offer. All in all not a good stay. You will note from your records that we have used your company many many times and my husband has asked me to ask for some money off vouchers to offset the experience (as we are pensioners whose every trip counts now)so that we can use them against another stay in the future for example at the Crown Hotel Wetherall which is just perfect
I do hope you find my comments constructive, on the plus side the staff were very pleasant but the hotel/facilities/systems/restaurant needs a reminder that we all have choices and I will never book a stay at this hotel again.

BEDROOMS _ 8 / 10 SERVICE _ 8 / 10 FOOD _ 8 / 10 STAYED _ 19 May 2008 | A guest said the following about Cairndale Hotel & Leisure Club: Our room (#14) was a very spacious family room with all the facilities you might expect. The room and bathroom were both very clean. No complaints at all! The tariff includes free access to the Leisure Club which was greatly appreciated. The pool, which we had pretty much to ourselves, was warm and a good size. Again absolutely no complaints. Breakfast was a comprehensive self serve buffet with extra options that could be cooked to order (kippers etc.)....... Guess what, no complaints! Overall, I cant help thinking if this hotel was a little bit newer it would be operating with four stars. |

BEDROOMS _ 8 / 10 SERVICE _ 6 / 10 FOOD _ 6 / 10 STAYED _ 5 May 2008 | A guest said the following about Cairndale Hotel & Leisure Club: I stayed here with my husband and two young children for a two-night break. The room was clean and well-furnished, and seemed recently decorated. It had a double bed, a single and a fold-out sofa bed, all of which were very comfortable. The bathroom was also clean and well-appointed, and there were signs telling you how to turn on the hairdryer and so on, but no sign about how to work the bath/shower mixer taps, with the result that my husband and I were both showered on when we tried to turn on the bath! That's my only complaint about the room, however. One of our party has mobility problems and the steps up to the front door made things difficult, although I saw that there was another door at the side, which was presumably accessible by wheelchairs or buggies. The pool in the leisure centre was very good and the kids loved it. The breakfast buffet was excellent for quality and choice, and the staff were all pleasant and attentive. I would definitely stay there again. |
