The Cairndale Hotels Reivers Restaurant is named after the Border Reivers.
The story of the BORDER REIVERS is the story of the ongoing feuds between Scottish Clans and English families on either side of the Border between the 13th and 17th centuries.
A story of cross border cattle and sheep rustling (reiving), and in-fighting. The Border Reivers were in many ways not dissimilar to the outlaws of the American Wild West ...where greed, corruption and murder were the order of the day.
Out of this period of Border history comes the story of legends... where loyalties and acts of great courage are recorded on both sides of the border.
Many of the local families and clans who were involved over this period are highlighted in the menu and around Reivers Restaurant.
