BEDROOMS _ 0 / 10 SERVICE _ 5 / 10 FOOD _ 2 / 10 STAYED _ 5 Oct 2009 | katie moran said the following about Westerwood Hotel & Golf Resort: we booked a triple room and 3 people paid equal amounts of money. the room was a double with a sofa bed squashed into it and could not be pulled down as there was no place for us to sit. the room was equipped for 2 people, 2 towels 2 robes 2 cups which made us feel quite annoyed as we all had paid the same amount of money. there was no room upgrade and we had paid £10 per person extra for this luxury which, fortunately the hotel refunded after a lot of discussion. the staff were very nice and the spa facilities were great. a whole lot disappointed as i am a regular booker with classic britain and have recomended this site to all family and friends. |

BEDROOMS _ 7 / 10 SERVICE _ 10 / 10 FOOD _ 9 / 10 STAYED _ 20 Aug 2009 | A guest said the following about Westerwood Hotel & Golf Resort: Had a lovely time and staff were very welcoming and friendly. My only criticism is that your company's spiel advises that the bedrooom would be upgraded. According to the hotel all twin rooms are the same so they are unable to upgrade. Please update your website accordingly as this could be very misleading. In response, Westerwood Hotel & Golf Resort said the following: Reply from Classic Britain:
Thank you for taking the time to review the Westerwood and we are delighted that you enjoyed your stay. Re the free room upgrade, the hotel allocates the best available room on day of arrival - this might be the best standard room if no other rooms are available. An upgraded room is not guaranteed, it does depend on availability.
Kind regards

BEDROOMS _ 9 / 10 SERVICE _ 7 / 10 FOOD _ 7 / 10 STAYED _ 24 Jul 2009 | Cameron McRae said the following about Westerwood Hotel & Golf Resort: A Lovely hotel, with lovely rooms and facilities. It is a busy hotel with Wedding receptions and functions, but this only goes to show that people like to come to this Hotel. I would say that eating in the Flemings resturant was a treat and Racheal, was an excellent host, tha Club Bar isnt as good and the food is not to the same quality. If you want to be pampered then go and have a treatment in the Spa area as they are great. The swimming pool and steam/sauna are also very good and not overly full.
A very relaxing and enjoyable 2 nights stay. |

BEDROOMS _ 0 / 10 SERVICE _ 10 / 10 FOOD _ 9 / 10 STAYED _ 18 Jul 2009 | A Hendren said the following about Westerwood Hotel & Golf Resort: We were a bit disappointed as we had paid 2 room upgrades totalling £80.00 per stay and we only got robes in one bedroom, (this room was not refurbished and very dingy)the other although refubished had no robes. When I enquired at hotel they blamed yourselves. It was for my mother and father-in-laws Golden Wedding Anniversary so is was very disappointing to have paid this extra for superior rooms which only one room was refurbished but had no extras and the other frankly was very poor. |

BEDROOMS _ 9 / 10 SERVICE _ 9 / 10 FOOD _ 9 / 10 STAYED _ 3 Jul 2009 | B Lawson said the following about Westerwood Hotel & Golf Resort: we really enjoyed our stay and had a great time.
we found the directions from fife, given on the hotels website inaccurate as it tooks us twice as long to get there as it should have but we didn't let this spoil our weekend.
I also would have liked more information on the hotels activites in the welcome pack located in our bedroom, such as, spa treatments, aslo fitness classes in their dance studios.

BEDROOMS _ 5 / 10 SERVICE _ 5 / 10 FOOD _ 8 / 10 STAYED _ 19 Jun 2009 | A guest said the following about Westerwood Hotel & Golf Resort: We booked a family room as we required a cot in the room, it was tight, not sure how another bed would have fitted in. Think we had been put in a double. The food was good and we found the bar and grille best for choice and value. The pool area and changing facilities were good, there was a mother and baby change cubical and a room for dads, but this had no change table. The service was friendly, was a bit slow when busy. There were a few mistakes on our bill but this was sorted easily. |

BEDROOMS _ 10 / 10 SERVICE _ 5 / 10 FOOD _ 8 / 10 STAYED _ 5 Jun 2009 | A Low said the following about Westerwood Hotel & Golf Resort: We enjoyed our short stay at the Westerwood Hotel. Having travelled from England after attending a funeral it was lovely to be welcomed and looked after.
Our only complaint happened on Saturday evening in the upstairs grill bar. . Having placed our meal order we were served both first and second courses. We then placed our sweet order with the waitress and waited for 45 minutes for the sweet to arrive. When questioned the waitress said our order had been forgotten and
would be ready straight away. We were informed that we would not be charged for the sweet and offered a refreshment drink.
Obviously after waiting such a long time we declined to wait any longer and left. During our 45 minute wait we were not approached by any member of staff. Having enjoyed such a lovely meal, we both felt disapointed and neglected with the table service after the second course.
Our review reflects mainly on this incident as it did spoil our weekend break before returning home.

The rooms were excellent and also the leisure facilities. The bar & grill restuarant which we used both nights were good but i think there could be a wider menu. This could also be the case for the other restuarant in the hotel. Overall a most enjoyable stay. |

We had one child in our party but the childrens menu, for some UNKNOWN reason (we did enquire but were unable to get an answer)was not in use. One evening the child had a ham sandwich for evening meal, also restaurant had NO panninis and NO bananas, not what you would expect from a 4 star hotel. |

BEDROOMS _ 9 / 10 SERVICE _ 9 / 10 FOOD _ 9 / 10 STAYED _ 28 Mar 2009 | A guest said the following about Westerwood Hotel & Golf Resort: When we arrived at The Westerwood on saturday March 28th we were informed at reception that our booking had been cancelled! Not the nicest of experiences as we had just travelled down from Caithness. We were accommodated eventually by front of House staff who were most helpful under the circumstances. The hotel was fully booked by various companies so we were given the only room available. As the hotel was so very busy we had a long wait for our evening meal. We have always made our reservations through yourselves and there has never been a problem before. Could you look into the matter? Thanks Chris Hobson |

BEDROOMS _ 5 / 10 SERVICE _ 4 / 10 FOOD _ 5 / 10 STAYED _ 2 Mar 2009 | A guest said the following about Westerwood Hotel & Golf Resort: We have just came back from a 3 night stay, bed was really uncomfortable and pillows non existent. Therefore not much sleep.Although rooms looked nice.Opened the biscuits out of the room, ate only 1 out of the 2 pack, house keeper put the remaining 1 back and we never received any new ones in the 3 days.
Food was ok, although certainly not 4*, after food was eventually brought we then had to wait on cutlery, then ask for salt/pepper, by then the meal was getting cold.
Breakfast was buffet style under a hot plate, everything seemed dried out, especially the tomatoes, beans and mushrooms, which then put you off taking them as they were all crinkled and looked awful.
The pool area was very busy as there are so many leisure members from the surrounding area and children getting swimming lessons. Not the relaxing leisure break we expected. |

They are very understaffed during the evening meals, so be prepared to wait during courses - they are working very hard, there just isnt enough staff.
Food and rooms are lovely as is the swimming pool and facilities.
Scored low on service, only due to to staffing levels, not the level of service they did deliver. |

BEDROOMS _ 4 / 10 SERVICE _ 2 / 10 FOOD _ 2 / 10 STAYED _ 6 Feb 2009 | John Patrick said the following about Westerwood Hotel & Golf Resort: The break was okish. We were very disappointed with the restaurant as we had to dine not in the restauarant proper rather whwt could best be described as a snach ype bar. On the Friday evening the service the service was very slow with the staff on duty being stretched beyond breaking point and various requests for our comfort being neglected.
We were also promised a room upgrade which did not happen, this was most disappointing.
Overall as our first venture with your company the whole experience was a big disappointment, at the moment our rgular weekends away will not be repeated with your concern.
Sorry to be rather negative, but that was the way it was... |

BEDROOMS _ 4 / 10 SERVICE _ 6 / 10 FOOD _ 4 / 10 STAYED _ 20 Jan 2009 | A guest said the following about Westerwood Hotel & Golf Resort: Wife, two young daughters and I planned a night away in a 4 star hotel - a swim, good quality meal and leisurely breakfast was on the agenda.
Hotel website looked terrific, wee bit pricey (over £160 for 1 night) - but - based on website - looked like a luxury establishment - and we had a complimentary upgrade !
What a disappointment. Checked in (advised at this point that restaurant not open and dining would be in the Club bar) and within 30 mins or so checked out again.
We expected connecting rooms (per website) - I suppose this is what we got as spouse and I were in a small, gloomy, spartanly furnished room (two single beds pushed together, made up separately) with a door leading to another room with a sofa, two armchairs and a small dining table. I phoned reception to ask where my daughters were to sleep and was advised the sofa was a bed - it should have been made up - they'd send Housekeeping.
My daughters were not keen in sharing the sofa for the night, probably not
helped that it (and the armchairs) was very stained and grubby looking,
Bathroom was not very impressive either, kickboard covering pipes had fallen off (I reinstalled) and bath panel was damaged.
At this point we decided to go home - to be fair, staff on reception were
very pleasant and helpful and tried to find suitable alternative
accomodation within the hotel. However nothing suitable was available.
We drove home through a storm and treated ourselves to a fish and chip
takeaway.
Based on the accomodation allocated to us I am most surprised this hotel is
rated as 4 star.

BEDROOMS _ 9 / 10 SERVICE _ 8 / 10 FOOD _ 9 / 10 STAYED _ 3 Aug 2008 | A guest said the following about Westerwood Hotel & Golf Resort: Directions to the hotel were good. The welcome at reception was excellent. There was a lot of attention to detail of presentation both in the room and in the restaurant. We were a little disappointed that the menu was the same for both nights - if staying any longer would be a bit repetitive. The breakfast was plentiful on a buffet basis. The location was good for both Glasgow and Edinburgh. We did not use the leisure facilities or golf, though we were able to walk on the buggy roads around the golf course which was very picturesque.

BEDROOMS _ 10 / 10 SERVICE _ 10 / 10 FOOD _ 10 / 10 STAYED _ 1 Aug 2008 | A guest said the following about Westerwood Hotel & Golf Resort: The food was fantastic but we would have liked a change of menu on the 2nd night. It was a refreshing change to hear so many Scotish voices from the staff. The gym&pool were excellent and we will hopefully take advantage of the golf course and tennis courts on our next visit.Very easy to get to hotel&in a great position for visiting either Stirling or Glasgow and surrounding areas. We stayed on the luxury break with champagne and fluffy robes and had a lovely time and would highly recommend this option.
