BEDROOMS _ 2 / 10 SERVICE _ 6 / 10 FOOD _ 5 / 10 STAYED _ 14 Apr 2010 | A guest said the following about Regent Hotel: This hotel is in need of a drastic makeover. Worn carpets, furnishings, paintwork, windows etc contributed to a pretty tatty look and feel all round. The staff however were pleasant and amiable. The food was generally OK. The first night's dinner was the fastest three courses I've ever had. The waitress sat us down, took our order and we'd eaten it all within twenty five minutes. It was all too rushed. The second night was more sedate.
Won't be going back. The two for one DBB was appealing at the time. |

BEDROOMS _ 9 / 10 SERVICE _ 10 / 10 FOOD _ 8 / 10 STAYED _ 2 Mar 2010 | Lesley Smith said the following about Regent Hotel: wasn't expecting too much from this hotel after reading previous reviews, but i am pleased to say i was pleasantly surprised. ok, so it is an old hotel and it's true some areas could do with a bit of tlc but it seemed to me some effort has already been made in this area. The hotel was spotless, the room we had was an adequate size and we got the sea view i had requested( thank you for that.)Food i would say was a bit hit and miss ie some dishes were dissapointing while others were extremely good. i would strongly suggest that soft music be played in the restauraunt during meal times as we found compelled to speak in whispers so as not to disturb the quiet or, indeed, be overheard! We saw no "surly" staff as everyone we came across was polite, friendly and helpful. i would suggest you give this hotel a try, especially if you are thinking of booking one of the special deals, which i feel gave excellent value for money. |

BEDROOMS _ 7 / 10 SERVICE _ 8 / 10 FOOD _ 8 / 10 STAYED _ 26 Feb 2010 | Mary Thomson said the following about Regent Hotel: The hotel is a bit shabby, much in need of some new carpets and furnishings, but the room was clean and warm, the bed was comfortable and I feel my bargain late deal represented very good value for money so I would stay there again. I had a wonderful view of the bay from my window. Beware coeliacs, although gluten free bread and gravy were provided for me there was a lack of awareness of gluten in potato croquettes and barley in the soup. Chef needs a bit of training here. |

BEDROOMS _ 5 / 10 SERVICE _ 3 / 10 FOOD _ 0 / 10 STAYED _ 15 Feb 2010 | ANN CROWE said the following about Regent Hotel: Briefly - food is poor quality, largely bought in (versus made on site), tasteless overcooked vegetables, stale sweets. Staff would benefit++ from customer focussed training, & improved staffing levels. Hotel is very tired & only exterior is 'Art Deco': needs major refurb. Most disappointing short break we have ever experienced. We love Oban & will be back, just not this hotel. Would recommmend Classic Britain distance themseves from this establishment, as is not their usual good quality or value for money, sorry. |

No bath for the children
The staff seemed under pressure
We still had an enjoyable trip to Oban |
