BEDROOMS _ 8 / 10 SERVICE _ 8 / 10 FOOD _ 6 / 10 STAYED _ 28 Jul 2010 | anne witherow said the following about Kings Manor Hotel: was a bit disappointed that my daughter could not get a childs portion of fish and chips when then menu said childrens portion of adult meals were available and the limited choice of desserts in the bistro. What we did have was lovely although the portions were too big for us. Our 2nd stay at this great hotel with 2 children aged 6 + 8. Very welcoming. |

BEDROOMS _ 7 / 10 SERVICE _ 8 / 10 FOOD _ 8 / 10 STAYED _ 15 Jul 2010 | L Cook said the following about Kings Manor Hotel: Great location for touring Edinburgh. Bus right outside door No 44 £3 day ticket unlimited or £1.20 one way. Bus right to Princes St -15 mins approx-car never moved all weekend. Leisure facilities excellent-only small quip-no nozzles on hairdryers. Breakfast up to 9.30 a bit early if one wished to make best use of pool etc before breakfast. 10am would me more realistic for pool users. Staff very informative at front desk and bar staff and breakfast staff excellent service all round. Plenty to eat at breakfast. Walked to Portobello and Musselbourough from hotel - nice pleasant stroll -complete change from the city. Buses ran late so returning from city at night no problem. Great location for weekend break would highly recommend it to friends and family and would use again ourselves. |

BEDROOMS _ 10 / 10 SERVICE _ 8 / 10 FOOD _ 8 / 10 STAYED _ 11 Jul 2010 | Agnes Miller said the following about Kings Manor Hotel: We were allocated a club room which was an excellent size. We didn't manage to use the spa facilities. Overall the service was good the only thing was I feel a slight lack of communication of how long our steaks would take to cook at dinner on the Monday evening, which was our silver wedding anniversary. I did complete the questionnaire at the hotel also. This was not really a complaint, just a highlight that it would have been nice to have been told our fillet steaks would be 35 mins. I overhead other guests being told their steak would be 20 minutes and would that be ok or would they prefer to order something else. |

Staff were friendly and helpful,The room was well appointed, and we had a lovely meal in the Bistro which was also good value. Made use of the pool before breakfast, Buffet was top notch. All in was an excellent experience. Have stayed previously and will do so again.

Two comments however firstly there seems to be a bit of confusion regarding when you are allowed to have dinner on this offer, of 2 nights DBB and 1 night free BB, I e-mailed classic britain previous to our stay and was informed that we could have dinners on any of the 3 nights but on arrival at hotel we were informed that we had to have dinner on first two nights, perhaps you could clarify this, secondly, when my sister went to pay bill we had been charged wrongly, this however was sorted out. |

BEDROOMS _ 8 / 10 SERVICE _ 10 / 10 FOOD _ 10 / 10 STAYED _ 26 Feb 2010 | William Blair said the following about Kings Manor Hotel: Excellent leisure facilities. Not enough signage within hotel to find bedrooms, pool etc. Car exit from hotel is not safe. Drivers cannot see traffic due to coaches at the hotel parked on main road. There is overflow parking at hotel which would be much safer because cars are having to drive straight on to main road into city. |

BEDROOMS _ 9 / 10 SERVICE _ 8 / 10 FOOD _ 8 / 10 STAYED _ 21 Feb 2010 | A guest said the following about Kings Manor Hotel: We really enjoyed our stay at King's Manor Hotel. Staff were very friendly and helpful and the bedroom was immaculate. Little touches such as a kettle that fitted under the tap with ease and a shower curtain rail that bowed out so that the curtain did not 'cling' while you took a shower. I would recommend this hotel and certainly repeat the experience |

The only critisism is that,we pre-booked our dinner for 8 o'clock in the bistro and on arrival at the bistro on both nights we were told that we would not be able to order for ages because they were too busy.As it was we only waited a short time before we were able to order but the comment was a little upsetting as we had pre-booked. When our food came it was delicious. |

BEDROOMS _ 9 / 10 SERVICE _ 9 / 10 FOOD _ 7 / 10 STAYED _ 7 Oct 2009 | donna highgate said the following about Kings Manor Hotel: Upon my arrival I was put into a standard double bed room. Although the room was very clean and tidy, it somehow did not live up to my expectations of what my upgrade would be. I went back down to the reception, I inquired if my accommodations were in fact the upgrade I had reserved. It took a few minutes, but the situation was soon resolved. I was given a club room upgrade. The room was excellent the staff very friendly and helpful. The location a little off the beaten path, but with a little more info on what buses to take where and when into the city centre sights, this would not matter. The food was good and my overall stay was great.I would definitely come back and tell my friends about the hotel and the city. |

BEDROOMS _ 9 / 10 SERVICE _ 10 / 10 FOOD _ 10 / 10 STAYED _ 28 Sep 2009 | M Reid said the following about Kings Manor Hotel: Another excellent visit to the Kings Manor, food was usual high standard and staff were all very friendly and helpful. On site health club is brilliant, well appointed gym, 20m pool, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi as well as a beauty treatment parlour. This hotel is about 15 minutes bus ride from centre of Edinburgh, however 44 bus stops right outside the hotel both ways and cost £3 for an all day pass. The hotel also offers a bar area which is at times frequented by some local students, although was never crowded, also have full sky and ESPN packages, great if you like me a football fan. In my opinion if you are looking for a base hotel to explore Edinburgh and surrounding areas there is none better for the money. Quite frankly the 3 star rating they received is insulting, bedrooms are at least 3 star, food and facilities deserve at least a 4. Overall an excellent hotel, hence why we are there at least twice a year for a short break. Take this hotel and drop it in Princes street or surrounding area and quite frankly most of us couldn't afford to go. Give it a try you won't be disappointed.
Mr Mrs M Reid. |

Hotel was lovely, leisure facilities were great, pool was a bit cold but everything else was great, changing facilities very roomy with private shower and changing cubicles. We had our dog with us and went on some beautiful walks around the hotel area, lovely walks behind the hotel along the burn path/route. Also lovely walks along Portobello beach. We visited the Scottish Parliament and had a wander around the City Centre. Relaxed in our room in the evening watching a DVD, good TV & entertainment system in the bedroom. |

The hotel menu was a bit samey but the food in Lauders resturant was of a high standard although we had a bit of a wait to be served. This may have been because we did not order starters and food is cooked freshly to order. |

Food in Bistro delicious and filling, restaurant nice but food a little disappointing. Hotel ideally placed to get into edinburgh by bus and would definitely consider staying again. |

BEDROOMS _ 8 / 10 SERVICE _ 1 / 10 FOOD _ 2 / 10 STAYED _ 15 Apr 2009 | George Cole said the following about Kings Manor Hotel: Had it not been for the leisure facilities this hotel would have at best been 2 star. The service, especially in the restaurant, was appalling, breakfast looked uncooked and what you ordered from the menu was not what you received. The staff did not have the guests interests at heart especially when faced with agressive, rude behaviour from none residents. The leisure centre and beauty salon staff were very friendly and helpful. I would not reccommend this hotel to my own family and friends even though it's location was very good.At the time of our visit other guests also complained about the restaurant and staff. |

I would say the food in bistro was much better than the restaurant though. The lunch and dinner on our first day in bistro was 10 out of 10 but the restaurant was very disappointing on the second day. But it wouldn't put us off coming back. |

BEDROOMS _ 10 / 10 SERVICE _ 10 / 10 FOOD _ 10 / 10 STAYED _ 20 Mar 2009 | Janet Cathie said the following about Kings Manor Hotel: I booked a 2 night stay as a surprise for my mums 60th birthday and both she and i thought it was fantastic. We found it to be very clean and very friendly. We were given a free upgrade to a club room which was really lovely. We booked dinner, bed and breakfast which was fantastic value and the food was great, much better than i was expecting.
The pool and sauna was great as well, again very clean and very relaxing.
I would definately recommend this hotel to friends and would return for another stay, perhaps taking my children next time.
Had a great weekend in Edinburgh!
