BEDROOMS _ 8 / 10 SERVICE _ 10 / 10 FOOD _ 10 / 10 STAYED _ 28 Jul 2010 | L McPhee said the following about Belsfield Hotel: We enjoyed a lovely stay here. The views from the front of the hotel overlooking the lake are spectacular. Staff were friendly and attentive, food was great and our roomwas very comfortable and quite roomy. We were at the back of the hotel and it was very noisy on a couple of mornings with bin lorries, but it didn't spoil our stay. If "old world grandeur" is waht you're looking for, you'll find it here. |

BEDROOMS _ 8 / 10 SERVICE _ 8 / 10 FOOD _ 5 / 10 STAYED _ 18 Jun 2010 | David Keiley said the following about Belsfield Hotel: Firstly we really enjoyed the stay and will look to return in future. Staff were very friendly and helpfull. The Bedrooms were very clean and well appointed for a family stay. However the evening meal could have been much better. Although breakfast was good. I would suggest simple, local and freshly cooked would be the way forward. |

BEDROOMS _ 7 / 10 SERVICE _ 8 / 10 FOOD _ 4 / 10 STAYED _ 7 Jun 2010 | A guest said the following about Belsfield Hotel: Good hotel with wonderful views. Needs considerable refurbishment which appears to be in hand, and ongoing.
Meals - Breakfast very good,
Dinner two out of the four meals I had
were inedible, (lamb and venison) and
vegetables the same every day and badly
cooked.
It was also offputing to see dead flies
accumulating on dining room window sill
( indicating the level of cleaning). |

BEDROOMS _ 2 / 10 SERVICE _ 7 / 10 FOOD _ 3 / 10 STAYED _ 16 May 2010 | Alexandra Wilson said the following about Belsfield Hotel: very disappointed hotel was very tiredand was badly needing decorated, didn't think meals were very nice,or well presented, for what we paid,we felt very let down. Won't be back or wouldn't recommend to family or friends In response, Belsfield Hotel said the following: I did speak with Mr and Mrs Wilson on departure and mentioned that we were currently redecorating several of our rooms and have completed 47 out of 64 rooms to date, plus the foyer, lounge areas and bar area. The room orignally assigned for Mr and Mrs Wilson was one of the redecorated rooms, which they thought was lovely, but preferred to have a lake view. Their choice was to move to a four poster lake view room, which I realise has not been upgraded, but the views are amazing. Discount was given for the fact that this room is still looking worn and I agree needs updating, which will be at some point in the future. I am sorry that the food did not meet the expectations of Mr and Mrs Wilson, I was not aware of this on checkout and apologise for this and will pass on your comments. |

However bedrooms were rather old and creaky and perhaps just a little dirty. Eastern European Staff had a problem with language and several times things were misunderstood as a result. In response, Belsfield Hotel said the following: Thank you for your comments. As I am sure you may have noticed, we have an on-going bedroom redecoration programme which includes the silencing of all floor boards. We will take on board your comments regarding your difficulty in understanding our staff and look forward to welcoming you back when you are next in the area.
Kind Regards

BEDROOMS _ 8 / 10 SERVICE _ 7 / 10 FOOD _ 6 / 10 STAYED _ 13 Nov 2009 | David Purss said the following about Belsfield Hotel: The Hotel was good and the location was excellent, but as I said in the Customer Feedback Card which I left with the Staff my only complaint was that someone entered my Room 82 whilst my Wife and I were in the Room using their key for Room 83. When the Duty Manager checked this out it was found that both locks were the same and for security alone this is totally unacceptable. If we were out someone could have entered my Room and removed my Valuables without any kind of dusturbance. Although I was told by the Duty Manager that the locks would be changed I was not satisfied with the way that the matter was dealt with and I wish to receive feedback on my complaint as it put a slight damper on an enjoyable weekend. In response, Belsfield Hotel said the following: Roger Jobson General Manager contacted Mr Purss last night & apologised for not having responded to Opinion card left on depature. RJ had intended to contact before. RJ explained how the error could have occured as we cut our own keys & inadvertantly maintenance had put key on to wrong fob. This was accepted by Mr Purss. RJ aplogised for the distress this could have caused had they both been in night atire etc. Duty managers explanation was down to lack of experience. Mr Purss was happy to accepot a gesture of compensation as & when he next wishes to stay at the Belsfield. RJ to follow up with formal letter of apology. |

BEDROOMS _ 6 / 10 SERVICE _ 8 / 10 FOOD _ 9 / 10 STAYED _ 15 Oct 2009 | A guest said the following about Belsfield Hotel: My wife and I stayed for two nights (THUR/FRI)bed and breakfast plus one night dinner .An old traditional hotelcurrently in the process of redecoration which was possibly the reason it was offered at such good value. The Hotel has a great location,a 100yd walk to the shops or the lakeside pier.Pleasant staff willing to assist .We were allocated a good sized clean room albeit tired pending redecoration perfectly adequate for the short time we were in it .Magnificent view overlooking the lake, shower room/wc ensuite with a wash hand basin in the bedroom . The evening meal in the restaurant was excellent although the large restaurant lacked atmosphere. There were a number of senior residents who I got the impression had been coming for years.
All in all an excellent two day break, cant fault it for the money .We hope to return and wish the hotel success in its makeover.

BEDROOMS _ 8 / 10 SERVICE _ 10 / 10 FOOD _ 9 / 10 STAYED _ 11 Oct 2009 | Terence McGeary said the following about Belsfield Hotel: We have just had a fantastic three days in the Belsfield. The staff were superb, friendly and ever helpful. They seemed to work well as a team. There was some renovation going on inside but it didn't affect us apart from a little detour to reception.
The room we had 14 was a little bit on the cool side but on the plus side it was seconds away from the pool and sauna that we had all to ourselves! The hotel was full but the staff managed remarkably efficiently. The lounge bar has a door opening into the garden from which you can walk down to the road and you are at the ferries..perfect! Bowness is a tidy wee place itself. Try the local Royalty cinema...like blast from the past but with uptodate films (we saw Up). I wouldn't hesitate to go to this hotel again...it was just great and the Classic Britain 3 for 2 deal made it a steal!
Interesting that the manager said that the hotel doesn't do upgrades to customers who book through agents (like Classic Britain)only for those booking direct with the hotel. In response, Belsfield Hotel said the following: Dear Mr and Mrs McGeary
Thank you for your very kind comments and positive feedback. I was a little concerned on the mention of our upgrade policy. This was with our reception manager not the manager of the hotel and we would like to apologise if any incorrect information may have been given, as our policy for upgrades is to all of our guests whether they book direct or on line through a travel agent. We look forward to welcoming you back to The Belsfield as some point in the future.
Kind Regards
Vivienne

BEDROOMS _ 7 / 10 SERVICE _ 9 / 10 FOOD _ 8 / 10 STAYED _ 11 Aug 2009 | Glynis Barron said the following about Belsfield Hotel: Nice hotel with great view over lake Windermere. Some areas of Hotel need new carpets, decorating but think this is to be expected in a Hotel of this age and size In response, Belsfield Hotel said the following: We are currently redecorating bedrooms and have completed 50% of the bedrooms to date and this is on going. We have also redecorated ground floor areas, ie bar, drawing room, library and two function rooms. We are currently redecorating our main entrance lounge area which is almost completed, with also a new carpet to be replaced early November. |
