The George Hotel is known as being the birth place of Rugby League Football. The meeting that founded Rugby League Football was held at the hotel in 1895. There is an interesting museum at the George hotel commemorating this and Rugby League Football history. Directions to George Hotel, Huddersfield
On the M62, exit at Junction 24, and take the signs for Huddersfield on the A629. At Ainley Top roundabout turn right. Go on to mini-roundabout, turn left and then take the next left straight after. Go down the steep hill and turn right at the T-junction. Go on to the traffic lights. You should now be going down a steep hill. Turn right at the T-junction. When you get to the traffic lights, the George Hotel is on your right next to the railway station.
