lovely friendly staff. food lovely.service for meal,bar,reception very slow. but it is not the staffs fault.. that two people have to show you to your seat,order,serve meals,lay cutlery, serve at the bar and work at reception, answer the phone.. 2 people cannot be in 3 places at the same time.it is impossible. so customer service suffers in every department. still not stuck the edges of the walpaper down on the ceiling in the bedroom.

We as a coach group & friends spent six days at this hotel and we found it to be really comfortable and quite relaxing. the staff were very attentive and helpful the food was good and there was quite a varied choice for dinner. Yes some of the rooms needed a little Tlc but they were clean comfortable and warm (it was still quite cold outside when we stayed in april). The location of the hotel though quiet was an ideal base for touring there were even rabbits and fawns seen in the hotel garden. We had two nights entertainment which was excellent. We found everything about it lovely and we would certainly like to return there soon. Yes we would recommend this hotel.

This hotel does exactly what it promises to do...3* star, functional accomodation. If you want a template hotel, then book-in to one of the national chains. This is a good example of a local, indepedent hotel with helpful, attentive and knowledgeable staff. Very suitable for walkers, cyclists ( I was doing End-to-End) etc...probably not always suitable for business owing to the tiring decor. Overall, a pleasant and comfortable stay representing good value for money.

Service was slow - no fault of the staff, all of who seemed to have far too much to do. One waitress covering evening meals in the dining room, and one barmaid covering bar, bar suppers, and sometimes reception, doesn't seem like adequate resourcing, and service suffered as a result. Food quality was good, when it arrived, but there was a very limited menu choice, and only two dishes changed over the three nights we were there. The room we had was postage stamp size, I'm afraid, despite the "Room Upgrade" promise we had.

A hotel in a perfect location for travellers heading north or south. Due to the age of the property the rooms are a little on the small side but are well appointed. The staff were extremely helpfull at all times and the food was excellent.

The rooms was a bit small but food & service were very good. We arrived after 9pm and restaurant was just closing but the chef stayed on and made us a meal which was served in the lounge, thumbs up for us we will definitely be back

It was very hard to find fault with the quality of food and helpfulness of the staff at this hotel. I was late in arriving and they very kindly kept the kitchen open and served me an excellent meal. I would not hesitate to stay nere again
