The Kingsmills Hotel in Inverness was originally a private residence built in 1786 for William Inglis later to become Provost of Inverness. The Kingsmills hotel is situated 1 mile from Inverness city centre and the River Ness which flows elegantly through the city. The house has been tastefully and yet practically extended over the years to open as a luxury Inverness hotel in 1947. The hotel was completely transformed in 2003, and now under new ownership, plans are afoot to upgrade the hotel even more.

The name commemorates a meal mill which stood in the grounds of our luxury Inverness hotel until the late 1950’s – licensing of which was granted by the crown alone until 1575 hence the “Kings” mills. The original house remains the “heart” of the present building with ornate ceilings and cornices. Our luxury Inverness hotel has now been returned to private hands, and is now focused on delivering the personal service for which the Kingsmills was originally esteemed.

Each bedroom offers en-suite twin, double or king-size bedded accommodation with tea & coffee making facilities, satellite television, wireless internet connection and direct dial telephone.

There is additional flexibility in our spacious bedrooms to accommodate extra beds and cots for those travelling with young children. Also available are a limited number of inter-connecting rooms. Smoking is permitted in a limited number of bedrooms. This should be requested at the time of booking but cannot be guaranteed. There are also Disabled rooms available.

The Garden King/Twin room is an en-suite room overlooking the gardens of the hotel; ground floor garden rooms have patio access to the gardens.

The Classic King/Twin room is a spacious modern room located in the original Kingsmills, some of these rooms have views over the gardens.

The Deluxe rooms are the biggest rooms in the hotel, modern in style, with bath robes, slippers, fresh fruit, mineral water and newspaper provided. Many of the Deluxe rooms have either a Jacuzzi bath or access via patio doors to a private patio and gardens. All Deluxe rooms are located in the original Kingsmills.

The Apartments are located opposite the hotel car park are traditional in style. They have 2 bedrooms one King and one Twin room, 2 bathrooms, lounge area and small kitchen.

The family rooms have a king size bedded room with adjoining room with bunk beds suitable for bigger children or the family rooms have king size bedded room with a pull out sofa bed in the same room suitable for younger children.

There are 6 rooms where smoking is allowed. Due to the limited number, these rooms are on request only

The Kingsmill Hotel offers great leisure breaks as guest have free use of the swimming pool; Spa Bath, steam room and sauna. The club also provides an admired leisure facility complemented by two fully equipped fitness rooms - with attendant supervision offering personal fitness programmes and advice.

As a guest using the leisure club at the Kingsmills Hotel you'll be able to use the 12 brand new
hi-tech machines by Cybex with a mix of Treadmills, Bikes, Arc trainers and the Concept rowing machines which you can have races between or link up to your laptop for those budding "professional" rowers.

Guests staying in the 4 star Kingsmills Hotel are able to choose to dine in the Kingsmills Restaurant which offers menus created by our head chef using locally sourced fresh ingredients or in the Conservatory and Lounge areas in the hotel offer a more informal menu.

Whin Park & Floral Hall

Enjoy a free day out beside the river Ness at Whin Park where there are trips to enjoy on the miniature railway, try your rowing on the boating pond or you can relax and watch the children play in the adventure play park, suitable for children of all ages.

Cruise Loch Ness

Have your own "Waterhorse" experience on board a boat on Loch Ness - will you be lucky enough to see Nessie? Cruises from Inverness and Drumnadrochit daily and when you're staying at the Kingsmills Hotel, it will arrange express tickets for you.

Dolphin Spotting

The most northerly group of bottlenose dolphins in the world can be found in the Moray Firth. You can take an hour's boat trip into the Moray Firth and if you are lucky when you are out you will see Osprey, Red Kites and Seals as well as the dolphins.

Culloden Battlefield

You can visit the the emotive Culloden Battlefield, during your visit to the Highlands. There is a new visitor centre for 2008. Live weapon shows, interactive displays and hand held satellite system explains what happened on the battlefield as you walk round taking in atmosphere. There is something for everyone in the family to enjoy. Culloden is the site of the final Jacobite demise in 1746.

Cairngorms & Surrounding Area
A funicular railway transports visitors to the higher reaches of Cairngorm itself and the ski slopes beyond which are also popular during the summer months with walkers, the children will enjoy the trip up the mountain on the Funicular Railway.

Directions to the Kingsmills Hotel in Inverness

From A9 North
Over Kessock Bridge, go straight across the first roundabout and head south on A9 for one mile. Take the slip road off the A9 marked Aberdeen A96. At the roundabout take the third exit marked Inverness B865. At the next roundabout take the first exit marked Kingsmills, carry on this road for 1/2 mile and turn right at the mini roundabout. You will pass Inverness Golf Club on the left and the Kingsmills Hotel is on the left just past the traffic lights.

From A9 South
Entering Inverness, take the slip road on the left (after you drive under the fly over) marked Culduthel and Kingsmills. At the roundabout take the 5th exit marked Kingsmills. Follow the road for 1 mile to a mini roundabout and go straight ahead following signs for Kingsmills. You will pass Inverness Golf Club on the left and the Kingsmills Hotel is on the left just past the traffic lights.

From A96
East Pass Inverness Business Retail Park (Tesco) on the left hand side. At the roundabout take the second exit marked Inverness B865. At the next roundabout take the first exit marked Kingsmills, carry on this road for 1/2 mile and turn right at the mini roundabout. You will pass Inverness Golf Club on the left and the Kingsmills Hotel is on the left just past the traffic lights.

From A82
Take the signs for Inverness on the A82 when arriving in Inverness you will be on Glen Urquhart Road, this will then take you onto Tomnahurich Street. You will then come to the Ness Bridge, across the bridge you will come to a set of traffic lights. Go straight ahead at the lights and proceed up castle street past McDonalds. Take the first left at the top of the hill after the traffic lights onto Old Edinburgh Road, go straight through the traffic lights and on to Annfield Road. At the junction turn left onto Culcabock Road and the Kingsmills Hotel is on the right hand side.
