BEDROOMS _ 5 / 10 SERVICE _ 7 / 10 FOOD _ 6 / 10 STAYED _ 24 Dec 2009 | lewis whyte said the following about New Lanark Mill Hotel: Dated decor, dirty and smelly in places, cold bedroom,no atmosphere whatsoever, not a memorable xmas break. We booked for 2 nights Dinner/B&B,2nd evening of our stay we were informed that dinner would be a buffet. This "buffet" consisted of leftovers from the "xmas package" earlier that afternoon,as for breakfast-if you like the "full scottish" stewing in its own condensation then fine. The hotel car park was under around 5 inches of snow and was a real hazard with no real attempt made to grit/salt the area for hotel guests.I am staggered how this hotel gained such high reviews. For me its a hotel in decline and nothing would tempt us back. In response, New Lanark Mill Hotel said the following: Dear Sir
I am sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your stay with us over the Christmas period
I will write to you in person regarding your comments shortly. However I would say that the comments listed on the Classic Britain site generally mirror the feedback I get face to face from our guests in the hotel.
Yours sincerely

BEDROOMS _ 9 / 10 SERVICE _ 10 / 10 FOOD _ 9 / 10 STAYED _ 25 Oct 2009 | James Clayton said the following about New Lanark Mill Hotel: Very comfortable & good value for money. Only niggle - the only dog-permitted room available had a wet-room shower, no bath, and the whole floor wet after a shower.
Very good pool and gymn facilities.
Would recommend the hotel, which is in the restored village, so lots to see. In response, New Lanark Mill Hotel said the following: Although we do allow pets, we do however only restrict to certain rooms so therefore I am afraid we cannot always gaurantee to be able to take a booking with pets or allocate the room type required.

The pool area was too cold to relax in. Very dissappointed in dinner on the 2nd evening. The staff were very helpful. In response, New Lanark Mill Hotel said the following: We are currently reviewing any remaining refurbishements for this year and looking at 2010 expenditure. This is the first time that anybody has commented on the pool area being too cold, but I will pass your comments onto the leisure manager.
I am glad you found the staff very helpful and hopefully also very friendly, and finally I will pass your comments regarding dinner onto our new Head Chef who started with us this week. Thank you for taking the time to leave your comments

BEDROOMS _ 9 / 10 SERVICE _ 6 / 10 FOOD _ 8 / 10 STAYED _ 12 Oct 2009 | Linda Coote said the following about New Lanark Mill Hotel: Disapointed we were told we would get an upgrade. This did not happen First we were allocated a disabled room on arrival ,after complaining the room was changed. This was ok.Service we downgraded because there was a bus party in and all was concentrated on them.Breakfast buffet was very nice when we eventually got it.Staff were very slow to fill up when items ran out.Other than that it was a lovley hotel and a very enjoyable break. In response, New Lanark Mill Hotel said the following: We were full on this night, but please accept my apologies for you not getting the last best room available. We do not down grade our customers in any way, there would have been an inevitable rush on the buffet whilst the group were having breakfast, however I appreciate that the staff could have been quicker in replacing the items.
I am glad in general that you enjoyed your break.

In response, New Lanark Mill Hotel said the following: Dear Mr Campbell
Thank you for your positive and quick feedback on your stay over the weekend
With regards to the free upgrade, I am afraid as it was a very late booking that was the only room available for 2 nights on those dates.
We hope to see you again in the near future

BEDROOMS _ 10 / 10 SERVICE _ 10 / 10 FOOD _ 6 / 10 STAYED _ 13 Apr 2009 | A guest said the following about New Lanark Mill Hotel: The hotel is clean, comfortable and staff are very friendly. The location is fantastic and we really enjoyed our stay. The only thing that was a little disappointing was the food. The scallops that were ordered had curry on them - unnecessary. Everything was quite salty, and luxury cream tea had sandwiches that were like doorsteps! But apart from that it was EXCELLENT and have recommended it already. Thank you Classic Britain also for fast, reliable, uncomplicated brilliant service and offers. First Class! |

BEDROOMS _ 4 / 10 SERVICE _ 2 / 10 FOOD _ 6 / 10 STAYED _ 13 Apr 2009 | David Crichton said the following about New Lanark Mill Hotel: The hotel and the surroudings are beautiful. Unfortunately, the service in the hotel left a lot to be desired.
When we arrived, our room was not ready so we went to the bar for lunch. Service in the bar was extremely slow.
When I booked the hotel, I was told we would get a room upgrade. However, when we did get our room, we found we had been given a room with facilities for the disabled. That in itself was not a problem. However, the "wet room" is designed for wheelchair access, so there is no bath and the shower did not adjust above shoulder height, making it totally impractical. Only after we complained were we given another room.
In the restaurant, most of the waitresses were young girls who did not have a clue about anything on the menu. Service was also extremely slow - on the second night, we waited almost an hour between our starter and our main course and yet at no time did anyone offer an explanation or an apology. |

BEDROOMS _ 7 / 10 SERVICE _ 7 / 10 FOOD _ 8 / 10 STAYED _ 12 Apr 2009 | A guest said the following about New Lanark Mill Hotel: Staff very friendly, bar area a little small.
Evening meal was lovely although took over 2hrs to have 3 courses and left before coffee. maybe because there was a wedding on, staff were maybe busy with the wedding party, leaving the dining room slightly understaffed. music was also quite loud when trying to sleep went on until 12pm.. Apart from that had a lovely time and would definetly consider going back. |

BEDROOMS _ 7 / 10 SERVICE _ 8 / 10 FOOD _ 9 / 10 STAYED _ 3 Apr 2009 | Marlyn Veitch said the following about New Lanark Mill Hotel: The hotel, food, room and staff were all lovely. We enjoyed our stay our only one complaint was that we could not open a window in the room we were allocated and we sleep with a window open. A fan was provided in the room and helped but for our next visit we will ask for a room with a window that can open. We had a lovely time thank you. Marlyn and David Veitch |

The restaurant menu while good is perhaps a little over-reaching, fussy eaters will struggle to find something suitable...but the bar menu has plainer food which is very good and they are happy to serve you from that in the restaurant.
The rooms are spacious, comfortable and clean.
The Spa area is very user friendly as well.
Finally, I cannot praise the friendly and hospitable staff enough. Nothing was too much trouble for them and they were delightful people. |

BEDROOMS _ 8 / 10 SERVICE _ 5 / 10 FOOD _ 1 / 10 STAYED _ 21 Feb 2009 | david holt said the following about New Lanark Mill Hotel: service slow ,evening meal canteen standard,. when waitress asked if she could recommend a wine her reply was dont know never drink the stuff.fire drill during breakfast nobody had a clue what to do never again run by amateurs In response, New Lanark Mill Hotel said the following: I have tried to contact Mr Holt regarding his comments and am currently awaiting response to written correspondence. The hotel prides itself on it's customer service and it is felt that these comments are somewhat harsh.
The duty manager was dealing with her first live evacuation and despite training some things can only be picked through dealing with incidents at first hand
however I await Mr Holts further comments |

We brought our dog with us for the weekend and used our free time to walk in the surrounding area, which is beautiful. Bedroom was spacious, warm and comfortable. Food was excellent and presented beautifully. Staff were helpful and friendly. Fitness and Leisure suite are fantastic, pool looks great but is not so good for swimming lengths due to its shape. We will bring our grand daughter next time. |

BEDROOMS _ 9 / 10 SERVICE _ 9 / 10 FOOD _ 8 / 10 STAYED _ 16 Feb 2009 | Kathleen Fenwick said the following about New Lanark Mill Hotel: We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, an excellent location and beautiful hotel, historically very interesting and an ideal place to take children. My one negative comment would be that although the food was of high standard and perfectly sufficient for me, the dinner menu was never changed in the 3 days we were there and I felt that had my husband been with me he would have looked for potatoes and vegetables to to be served to make a more substantial main course meal. I did hear comments that there was not adequate main course food for men, therefore perhaps there should be a thought to at least offer potatoes with this meal. |
