BEDROOMS _ 8 / 10 SERVICE _ 10 / 10 FOOD _ 8 / 10 STAYED _ 21 Aug 2010 | Douglas Methven said the following about Tinto House Hotel: Nice 2 night break spoiled by unexpected supplement of £11 for dinners. No mention of supplements on Classic Britain website or on hotel menu. Learned later that there is a £15 allowance for dinner - not enough for 3 courses even if cheapest items chosen. Have already complained to C.B. In response, Tinto House Hotel said the following: Reply from Classic Britain Hi Mr Methven
Thank you for submitting your review. The hotel has acknowledged that the dinner allowance was an error and the £11 has been refunded to you. Apologies for any inconvenience caused. Kind regards, Raymond McMillan Hotel Product Manager |

BEDROOMS _ 6 / 10 SERVICE _ 6 / 10 FOOD _ 6 / 10 STAYED _ 20 Jun 2010 | hilary scholes said the following about Tinto House Hotel: Hotel had no knowledge of our booking. Luckly plenty of rooms though didn't get best room available. Have been to Tinto several times before and feel quality has deteriorated. Stayed on a BBD basis. No one explained dinner menu and ended up with a supplement to pay even though we had middle price options. Meal rushed due to chef going home early.Dinner booked at 7.30pm.Serving was from 7.00pm to 8.45pm. Staff who have been employed for several years made us feel special which was wonderful. |

BEDROOMS _ 9 / 10 SERVICE _ 10 / 10 FOOD _ 10 / 10 STAYED _ 12 Mar 2010 | ILENE BEHAN said the following about Tinto House Hotel: Booked this tribute weekend to meet up with family. It was a unanimous decision that this was the best weekend we have had. From the minute we arrived the staff were welcoming and helpful. Bedrooms allocated were spacious, clean and beds comfortable, with plenty of towels supplied. Restaurant food was first class, with good portions. Good choice at breakfast. Again staff were great.
Tribute night was good too.
When we left we all agreed that it was the best weekend we had had away and would return some time in the future. |

BEDROOMS _ 5 / 10 SERVICE _ 7 / 10 FOOD _ 7 / 10 STAYED _ 12 Feb 2010 | Bernard McGoogan said the following about Tinto House Hotel: On Arrival at the hotel we were informed that the booking we had made through classic Britian had not been confirmed with the Hotel. We found this most embarrassing as other guests were waiting to book in at the same time. However luckily the hotel managed to accommodate us. We are not sure if we would feel comfortable booking through Classic Britain again because of this incident in case the same thing happened and the hotel was not in the position to accommadate us and we would have to return home. |

The first room we were allocated was absolutely freezing. We asked to move and were allocated a family room which was quite warm. We feel that the bedrooms are in need of updating. Party night food and entertainment was very good although the drinks were quite expensive. |

BEDROOMS _ 5 / 10 SERVICE _ 4 / 10 FOOD _ 4 / 10 STAYED _ 24 Oct 2009 | Jayne Wilds said the following about Tinto House Hotel: The hotel looks impressive and nicely decorated in the public rooms with ample seating areas, and comfortable. The bedroom was small and looked out over the kitchen area with no other view. Shower had shower curtain, never a good sign. No fan in bathrrom and no window to extract steam etc.
The reception staff were waiting breakfast tables which caused a delay in checking out.
Breakfast was faultless however dinner was a huge disappointement. Not a great selection on menu, lack of sophistication and portions far too big ie enough chips to feed a family of four! We were not even offered coffee and the end of our meal. Very disappointing. |

BEDROOMS _ 7 / 10 SERVICE _ 10 / 10 FOOD _ 8 / 10 STAYED _ 25 Aug 2008 | A guest said the following about Tinto House Hotel: Spent 2 nights here again hoping to take a hot air balloon flight which was cancelled. All was not lost as we had decided to combine this trip with a family dinner to celebrate my parents Golden Wedding Anniversary. We briught a cake which was duly taken to the kitchen to be looked after, asked if we could decorate the table, which was well recieved. All of the staff went out of their way to look after us & our requirements. When the time came for dinner, our table was set up in the large bay window, the cake had pride of place on a beautiful stand on a side table, Whoever had done the Menus had taken the trouble to head them with our parents names & the fact that it was their anniversary.
Couldn't fault them at all.
The food was excellent.
Our room was a bit tired but clean & functional. All the rest of the party had beautiful rooms. I feel that they are in the midst of refurbing slowly.

BEDROOMS _ 10 / 10 SERVICE _ 10 / 10 FOOD _ 10 / 10 STAYED _ 25 Jun 2008 | A guest said the following about Tinto House Hotel: We stayed for 1 night at this very quaint hotel. We were hoping to take a hot air balloon flight next morning & had this happened we would have had to leave very early in the morning. We asked if there was any possibility of having a spot & breakfast at some ungodly hour & the helpful receptionist cheerfully advised that she'd arrange for the night porter to sort us out with cereal toast etc. We then booked a time for dinner & went up to our room, which was spotlessly clean if a bit dated. The room was fairly large with ample wardrobe space, a television, hairdryer, iron, ironing board & tea, coffee making facilities. All home conforts. Our dinner was fantastic with huge portions. The haggis in Drambuie sauce, to die for!!! As our balloon flight was cancelled, we were able to partake of the full Scottish breakfast next morning instead. A great selection of both hot & cold breakfast items were available. Nothing was too much trouble for the friendly & welcoming staff. We are hopefully going on our balloon flight in August & are looking forward to our next stay at this little gem!!!!! |
