The staff were friendly and efficient. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The food in the restaurant was of a good quality, although the table d'hote portions were only adequate. We had mini facials in the therapy suite which relaxed us greatly. All in all a hotel worth recommending. |

BEDROOMS _ 7 / 10 SERVICE _ 9 / 10 FOOD _ 9 / 10 STAYED _ 25 May 2010 | Marion Cairns said the following about Oban Bay Hotel & Spa: A nice, comfortable hotel, but not ideal for disabled. Advertised as 6 stairs to the lift, but there were many more with a long winding walk to reach it from reception. The staff were friendly and very helpful and the food was lovely. |

BEDROOMS _ 7 / 10 SERVICE _ 8 / 10 FOOD _ 8 / 10 STAYED _ 20 Apr 2010 | alex copeland said the following about Oban Bay Hotel & Spa: parking very poor. we had reserved parking but had difficulty in getting parking space. It might be better to number parking bays and ensure that reserved cars only use these bays. It may be helpful to put up a notice to say that cars who do not have reservations and park in reserved bays will be clamped.
Overall enjoyed our break. staff helpful and food good. Had to get room changed as original room was very small with small window over bay. However this was quickly sorted out but there should have been no need to complain about original room after paying extra for an executive room. |

BEDROOMS _ 7 / 10 SERVICE _ 8 / 10 FOOD _ 8 / 10 STAYED _ 29 Mar 2010 | Patricia Currie said the following about Oban Bay Hotel & Spa: We enjoyed a lovely break at Oban Bay Hotel and Spa. Staff were friendly and efficient, our room (360) was comfortable - a bit on the small side with no view to speak of. Parts of the hotel looked a bit shabby but at the time of our stay refurbishments were being carried out. All in all a very pleasant experience. |

BEDROOMS _ 4 / 10 SERVICE _ 8 / 10 FOOD _ 7 / 10 STAYED _ 19 Mar 2010 | R Gordon said the following about Oban Bay Hotel & Spa: A welcoming hotel with excellent staff and good food. However the executive bedroom could be best classed as small very average with two very narrow windows providing a sea view and not worth the extra charge

BEDROOMS _ 10 / 10 SERVICE _ 7 / 10 FOOD _ 9 / 10 STAYED _ 13 Feb 2010 | A guest said the following about Oban Bay Hotel & Spa: if i was being overly critical, i would say the dinner service was slightly rushed. i didnt really have time to enjoy the excellent food.
also, i think the entrance to the hotel could be more clearly marked.
apart from this, it is an excellent hotel with amazing views and i would highly recomend it. |

BEDROOMS _ 8 / 10 SERVICE _ 8 / 10 FOOD _ 8 / 10 STAYED _ 1 Feb 2010 | Dawn roberts said the following about Oban Bay Hotel & Spa: I have stayed in this hotel several times and have never been disappointed. On previous visits I would have said the food was the only thing that let hotel down a bit,but this time the food was wonderful.Staff are all very friendly and welcoming.Rooms are small but have all been refurbished to a high standard. The views are what really make this hotel worth a visit.Stunning view from conservatory.Only gripe was that I booked a parking space in advance as advised on hotel website and when I arrived there were no parking spaces left.Staff seemed uninterested and was told to park in area marked "no parking, valet only."There doesnt seem much point in booking!Dont let that put you off staying in this hotel as overall I would thoroughly recommend it. |

Duty manager stated he would look into who took booking and would get back to us but he never did therefore our wedding anniversary was completely ruined di to staff inefficiencies and could not care less attitude. |

BEDROOMS _ 4 / 10 SERVICE _ 6 / 10 FOOD _ 9 / 10 STAYED _ 13 Nov 2009 | A Steven said the following about Oban Bay Hotel & Spa: We enjoyed our stay however a few minor point lack of efficient communication when booking in and also on our second nigh at dinner. We were just about to start when the waiter informed us we were only on his sheet for bed and breakfast therefor dinner would be extra, this was wrong as we were booked for dbb for the first 2 nights. The room was advertised as an executive room having visited a number of hotels I would not class this room as executive, it was comfortable, clean and small. |

BEDROOMS _ 7 / 10 SERVICE _ 2 / 10 FOOD _ 7 / 10 STAYED _ 14 Oct 2009 | Mik Armstrong said the following about Oban Bay Hotel & Spa: The reception staff were not very friendly or welcoming. We travelled by bus so wanted to leave bags at hotel at around mid morning on the day of arrival as we knew that the room would not be ready. We were greeted with "you are very early for check in." The rest of the stay was peppered with brisk responses throughout from waiting staff and recptionists alike. On leaving nobody bothered to ask if we had enjoyed our stay. At twice the price of other hotels that we stayed in that week, one of which was Stonefield Castle, we were disappointed in the staff at the Oban Bay Hotel. The rooms and the food were good but we would suggest some training, of the very young staff, in customer care would not go amiss. |

BEDROOMS _ 7 / 10 SERVICE _ 7 / 10 FOOD _ 8 / 10 STAYED _ 12 Oct 2009 | SUSAN HARROWER said the following about Oban Bay Hotel & Spa: when we arrived no room had been booked for us and were told to come back in an hour fortunately we got two rooms next to each other but it could have been a big problem as the MOD was taking place in Oban and all hotel room were full. The treatments we had at the hotel were fine but the position of the treatment room on a main thoroughfare to bedrooms and children were using it as a race track and it was very noisy not at all peaceful as it should have been. |

BEDROOMS _ 8 / 10 SERVICE _ 9 / 10 FOOD _ 8 / 10 STAYED _ 10 Oct 2009 | mary findlay said the following about Oban Bay Hotel & Spa: I was charged a 'single occupancy' supplement and was given a single room.
However that was quickly remedied when I complained, and I was moved to a double room.
The reception staff were very helpful |

BEDROOMS _ 4 / 10 SERVICE _ 8 / 10 FOOD _ 9 / 10 STAYED _ 2 Oct 2009 | Elaine Harrow said the following about Oban Bay Hotel & Spa: My husband and I recently spent a 2 day break at the Oban Bay HOtel and Spa. The hotel itself was lovely with good food and friendly staff.I did feel however that the rooms let them down. The first room we were shown was not much more than a cupboard, however after requesting another room we were shown a slightly larger one. There were no wee finishing touches in the bathroom such as shower gel or shampoo (very unusual in a hotel of that rating) and the shower was only slightly more than a trickle. I must add though these things did not spoil our stay at the hotel. |

BEDROOMS _ 8 / 10 SERVICE _ 7 / 10 FOOD _ 9 / 10 STAYED _ 27 Sep 2009 | sara l dow said the following about Oban Bay Hotel & Spa: book this for a gift for my parents so i was quite unhappy to hear that the hot tub was out of order ant that the massage chair was not working, although they had a wonderful time. i would recommend this hotel and webb site to a friend. |

BEDROOMS _ 5 / 10 SERVICE _ 3 / 10 FOOD _ 9 / 10 STAYED _ 10 Aug 2009 | Sandy Leyh said the following about Oban Bay Hotel & Spa: All of my group's 4 rooms overlooked a side roof. Very disappointing and should be noted in the hotel description that there are no "sea views".
I emailed the hotel prior to arriving to give the names of the people in each room and request a quiet room for myself. I received a response from Margaret. Yet upon arrival we were delayed because no one seemed to know what I was talking about and my quiet room was next to an infant. I was told nothing could be done about it or the other rooms with the dismal views.
I also called 30 minutes prior to our arrival to request help with luggage. Yet there was no one to help. Most of my party carried their own luggage and no directions to the rooms were given. Finally the bartender was asked to carry the last 2 suitcases.
As a contrast to the front desk employees, the dining room supervisor was very efficient & helpful.
The food was excellent! The chef should be commended. |

BEDROOMS _ 6 / 10 SERVICE _ 7 / 10 FOOD _ 9 / 10 STAYED _ 7 Aug 2009 | A guest said the following about Oban Bay Hotel & Spa: We had a nice weekend on the whole. Our rooms were a bit dingy and dark but clean enough and bed comfortable. Meals were fine although service slow at breakfast. Bar prices expensive and could've done with a bit background music in bar lounge. |

BEDROOMS _ 5 / 10 SERVICE _ 5 / 10 FOOD _ 8 / 10 STAYED _ 24 Jul 2009 | chris mcalpine said the following about Oban Bay Hotel & Spa: we enjoyed our stay but there were a few issues.
we would haved liked treatments but the therapist was off sick and there was no alternative for us so we were a bit disappointed, after all that was the one reason we chose the hotel.
on a busy friday night dinner service was very good and staff were very attentive but on saturday night it was very disappointing as staff were not attentive at all and we waited quite a while in between courses which usually isn't a problem had the restaurant been busy but it wasn't.
whilst showering the water cut off several times on seperate occasion which we found unacceptable. |

BEDROOMS _ 1 / 10 SERVICE _ 5 / 10 FOOD _ 8 / 10 STAYED _ 24 Jul 2009 | Andrew Evans said the following about Oban Bay Hotel & Spa: Despite the brochure appearance of a victorian hotel, this is in fact a large hotel with a modern low quality add on to the rear. Down side.. the lift (and stairs) is at the extreme rear down a long narrow passage, with two flights of steps (13 in all). Nearly all rooms have no view to speak off, staff were pleasant but not exactly friendly, no one to help with luggage. Bedrooms tidy but cheap mattress old and worn out. Parking is impossible with only a few places, other have to walk and park on the street some 200 yards away (which is usually full). Food was good and dining room staff pleasant and friendly. However, finding alternatives in Oban would be difficult. |

BEDROOMS _ 8 / 10 SERVICE _ 10 / 10 FOOD _ 10 / 10 STAYED _ 24 Jul 2009 | Lynda Mills said the following about Oban Bay Hotel & Spa: This was most definately the best hotel we have stayed at for a long time. The staff were impeccable - professional, well trained obliging, knowledgable and considerate. Nothing was too much trouble. The food was excellent. The rooms clean and well appointed. Our next break will be at this hotel or one of the others in the Crerar chain. |

BEDROOMS _ 6 / 10 SERVICE _ 8 / 10 FOOD _ 8 / 10 STAYED _ 8 Jul 2009 | Joan Hermse said the following about Oban Bay Hotel & Spa: Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Oban Bay Hotel. Watched the dolphins jumping in the bay from the lounge - fantastic! The 'executive' room was quite small, but this was compensated for by the view over the bay. |

BEDROOMS _ 9 / 10 SERVICE _ 9 / 10 FOOD _ 9 / 10 STAYED _ 8 Jul 2009 | A guest said the following about Oban Bay Hotel & Spa: Enjoyed our stay. It was quite something to sit in the lounge and watch dolphins at play in the bay, and take in the beautiful scenery. |

BEDROOMS _ 6 / 10 SERVICE _ 5 / 10 FOOD _ 10 / 10 STAYED _ 17 Jun 2009 | A guest said the following about Oban Bay Hotel & Spa: Clean hotel in lovely setting. Parking on-site needs to be pre-booked and is chargeable at £5/night (would be better to include this in hotel costs and allocate on first come first served basis)! Room was adequate though shower was the smallest cubicle EVER and really difficult to move in. Food was absolutely faultless - excellent value for money. Drinks expensive @ £5.75 for a (not so) large glass of basic rose wine. Female staff in restaurant very pleasant and courteous - same can't be said for male staff there who were surly and abrupt! Young female and male reception staff very pleasant, older blonde curly haired receptionist had abrupt manner and seemed unable to smile. This hotel appears to cater, in the main, for the older generation and majority of residents were over 65yrs. |

BEDROOMS _ 3 / 10 SERVICE _ 4 / 10 FOOD _ 2 / 10 STAYED _ 29 May 2009 | A guest said the following about Oban Bay Hotel & Spa: The bedroom was for three people.A z-bed was put in which if it had been cold was right in front of the heater and just leg room between the big bed and it.Even although they knew three people in the room only two bath towels and hand towels. They dont really cater for children when it comes to meals.Main meal at night was fancy with all saucies etc and all small portions.Glad it was included in the price of the room would not of gone otherwise.
As for off road parking too many hotels etc no chance unless really early and you dont move your car of getting it parked double yellow lines. |

BEDROOMS _ 5 / 10 SERVICE _ 7 / 10 FOOD _ 9 / 10 STAYED _ 22 May 2009 | Helen Stewart said the following about Oban Bay Hotel & Spa: Fantastic view from lounge. Dissapointed with the standard of the superior bedroom - apart from the view. |

BEDROOMS _ 2 / 10 SERVICE _ 8 / 10 FOOD _ 8 / 10 STAYED _ 16 May 2009 | Julie Mierzejewski said the following about Oban Bay Hotel & Spa: I was disappointed with the hotel. My mother and I were put in a room at the very back of the hotel. The room was very small (when I was sat at the dressing table the only way past was by climbing on the bed) and the bathroom was so small that you had to close the door to be able to use the facilities plus there was old soap residue on the soap dish. The decor was tired and jaded. Other than that we had a good stay the beds were comfortable and the food was good. I don't think we will be staying here again though. |
7 / 10
BEDROOMS _ 6 / 10 SERVICE _ 8 / 10 FOOD _ 8 / 10 STAYED _ 24 Apr 2009 | Anne Seawright said the following about Oban Bay Hotel & Spa: Our room was quite far from the entrance with quite a few steps to the lift so in retrospect I should have asked for a room that was more accessable for my elderly mother. When I saw you had a liftI assumed access would be easy whatever floor we were on. The lighting in the room was a bit dull, specially by the wardrobe.
I used the hot tub on the first evening and asked at reception if the top could be taken off and was told I could do it myself but found it too heavy for me and only folded over the top which was not ideal as it blocked the view. Perhaps a member of staff could do this for the guests.
These are just a couple of points that I think could be improved on, otherwise the service and food were very good. Your staff are a great asset to you. |

BEDROOMS _ 8 / 10 SERVICE _ 10 / 10 FOOD _ 7 / 10 STAYED _ 19 Jun 2008 | A guest said the following about Oban Bay Hotel & Spa: I found the staff to be very helpful and efficient and the hotel to be welcoming and comfortable. The restaurant was also excellent. Whilst £75 may seem a lot for one night's B&B it is all relative and this was a very good rate, as I am finding other places to be far more expensive but of lesser quality. I should probably also mention that I had a room that had been recently fully refurbished throughout, very nice indeed.

BEDROOMS _ 8 / 10 SERVICE _ 10 / 10 FOOD _ 8 / 10 STAYED _ 10 May 2008 | A guest said the following about Oban Bay Hotel & Spa: MUST book car parking space. Staff couldn't have been more friendly and helpful - probably the friendliest hotel I have stayed in over the years. Food good in the restaurant - one downside - limited menu, and on the nights we stayed there several of the items were not available - which made it even more limited! We booked a packed lunch - extremely good both in what was included and value for money.

BEDROOMS _ 8 / 10 SERVICE _ 10 / 10 FOOD _ 8 / 10 STAYED _ 21 Feb 2008 | A guest said the following about Oban Bay Hotel & Spa: Going back to the Oban bay hotel for the 4th time in 5 months, only once was this hotel "overcrowded", but the General manager sorted that out for us, stayed in 3 different parts of the hotel, and various rooms of the hotel, all were very comforable, spotlessly clean, staff excellent, food great, Only once was the Spa out of use, but that was because of overcrowding.
In response, Oban Bay Hotel & Spa said the following: Ian & Brenda thank you for your kind comments, we hope to see you back in Oban again in the very near future. All the best.

BEDROOMS _ 8 / 10 SERVICE _ 9 / 10 FOOD _ 10 / 10 STAYED _ 7 Jan 2008 | A guest said the following about Oban Bay Hotel & Spa: My wife and I stayed at this Hotel again on the 4th to 6th January (second time within a year) When one considers what you pay for a two night break complete with food you really get more than you pay for in this Hotel. Ok it is a little flawed around the edges, but the rooms were once again spotless and warm, the meals when we sampled them were very good. When you throw in the cracker of a view from the conservatory at the front, what more could one wish for, for the money. If you want to find problems with any Hotel, you can find them, and this hotel would be no different! All in all a very good deal and if you can find a Hotel that offers a better deal than this, then please let me know. By the way we are independant travellers of many a week end break with no ties to this particular hotel or its owners, just that we do not want to see a hotel being painted with the wrong brush!!
In response, Oban Bay Hotel & Spa said the following: Kenny thanks for your defence of the Oban Bay Hotel i really appreciate your kind words it's good to receive praise from such a well travel couple, Everyone is entitled to their comments right or wrong good or bad this helps us identify or weakness which we can then rectify and become better at what we do. Hope to see you again on your worldly travels take care.

When we booked we were told there was no parking available but we only had to walk about 100 yards to the free parking. Our check in was very efficient and although we were given back facing rooms, the room itself was lovely. We used the sauna, steam room & hottub all day and then had a lovely meal in the restaraunt. We all enjoyed our stay and will definately be going back.
In response, Oban Bay Hotel & Spa said the following: Thanks for your kind comments i,m glad you had an enjoyable stay with us and look forward to welcoming you again.
