The Royal Marine Hotel in Dunoon is set amongst the stunning Argyllshire scenery. Beautifully positioned right on the seafront and near to the ferry terminal running between Gourock and Hunters Quay. The Royal Marine Hotel is located approx 2 miles from the centre of Dunoon. The hotel is within easy travelling distance of Glasgow. The most direct ferry route is the Western Isles ferry from Gourock.
The original hotel was built in 1856 as the Marine Hotel and a few years later a number of rooms were let to the exclusive Clyde Yacht Club.
In 1872 the Club received a Royal patronage and became the Royal Clyde Yacht Club. In 1888 the hotel was gutted by a fire and the Club engaged the services of the famous architect T L Watson, to design a new building.
The housewarming of the new hotel coincided with the opening season of yachting on the Clyde in 1890 and the building renamed The Royal Marine Hotel. Since then, the Royal Marine has been welcoming travellers from all over the world. The hotel is now owned by the Greig family who have invested heavily on the improving the facilities and delivering a higher standard of service.
The hotel bedrooms f,or instance, have seen massive impsovement in recent years. A arell well equipped, ranging from cosy singles through to premier sea view rooms with four poster or sleigh beds.
Publice areas are spacious and comfortable and botht eh bar and restaurant have fantastic views across the water. At the weekends the hotel lays on entertainment packages with 5 scourse banquets, music and dance (refer to right hand panel for further info.).

The Royal Marine Hotel,Dunoon has 41 en-suite bedrooms, 31 are in the main building and 10 are in the adjacent Lodge. Premier sea view rooms with four-poster or sleigh beds are also available for added luxury to our short breaks.

The Ghillies Cafe Bar offers an extensive menu in an informal setting. In the summer months you can dine al fresco in the garden with spectacular views of the sea.
The Kilcreggan Room is more formal dining serving a table d hote dinner menu.

The location of the Royal Marine Hotel, Dunoon is in an unspoiled area of Scotland, where there are plenty of interesting walks and hikes.
There is also a great variety of wildlife in this area including native red squirrels, deer and otters. Visiting dolphins can also often be seen.
The Victorian town of Dunoon offers numerous tearooms, unique shops to stroll around and why not visit the Botanic Gardens for some relaxation.
Golf is also a major attraction in this area due to the 3 splendid golf courses near Dunoon, including the magnificent Cowal Golf course with its extensive facilities.

Directions to the Royal Marine Hotel, Dunoon
With the excellent road network motorists from the south should use the M6, M74, M8 to Greenock and then the A8 to Gourock and catch either the Caledonian McBrayne or Western Ferry to Dunoon.

Western Ferries run a very frequent service and conveniently disembark immediately opposite the Royal Marine Hotel.
The Airport is only 40 minutes away. However, for a truly scenic drive there is an alternative route A82 by the shores of Loch Lomond and the A815 to Dunoon.
Frequent Rail and Bus links are available to the ferries.
