Mrs Pat McNeil from Scotland said the following on 11 Mar 2010:

Booked the Stotfield Hotel, Lossiemouth for an overnight break but we were so impressed we booked for another night. Our room was very good, a wee bit tired but spotless with fantastic views over the beach. However it was the staff and food that did it!!! Cannot praise the food highly enough - our evening meals were outstanding. Do not be put off by the 2 star rating, their service was excellent.

JEAN ARMSTRONG from kenmore hotel said the following on 7 Mar 2010:

fantastic time here. staff were very pleasant, absolutely no complaints with food, rooms or service. well recommended to friends.....jean

Kathleen Stewart from Dundee said the following on 4 Mar 2010:

I had unexpectedly to change my booking with Classic Britain and it was rearranged within hours of them receiving my e mail.
This is good service and I will have no hesitation in using this firm again. Thank you

Nicola Liddell from STIRLING said the following on 2 Mar 2010:

We booked with Classic Britain for 2 nights at the Isle of Glencoe hotel. It was a great break away. The room we were allocated to on arrival heating wasn't working and we were upgraded to a family room with a beautiful view. The food and staff were excellent as were the leisure facilities. Would definately book with C.B again.

Lorna Houston from North Ayrshire said the following on 26 Feb 2010:

Have used Classic Britain on various occasions and will continue to do so as there service, staff and deals are the best you can get. Have checked other websites and none of them can compete with C.B.
Came back from the Ballachulish Hotel a couple of weeks ago and was a bit disappointed that I was served cold food twice within a two day stay but this is quite obviously no fault of C.B. but the hotel itself. Left feedback at the hotel and mentioned this and have never heard anything from them even though they have my contact details!
This will not put me off using C.B. and have just booked another short break with them to go away to Isles of Glencoe and I know this is absolutely fabulous as have been variosu times now.

Jean tait from Biggar ML126PW said the following on 25 Feb 2010:

First time we have used Classic Britain & I found the site very easy to use.
We had to cancel because of inclement weather & re-book with no hassle. Now looking forward to our short break

Cecelia from Edinburgh said the following on 22 Feb 2010:

We've booked several times through Classic Britain on line and have found it easy to use, fast and efficient. The deals have all been excellent. This last time (19/21 Feb) the Dunalistair Hotel in Kinloch Rannoch gave us a beautiful room and wonderful food and all for considerably less than if booked through the hotel. A great service which we are recomemnding to friends and will use again. Thank you.

ANN CROWE from Regent Hotel, Oban said the following on 21 Feb 2010:

Sorry this is so long - there was so much wrong! We stayed 15/16 Feb '10, & experienced the MOST disappointing break ever 1/10: I would urge Classic Britain to distance themselves from this hotel until it is refurbished, their staff trained & focus to customer service & value for money given serious attention - to explain this -
The hotel public areas are very tired & need refurbishment urgently: the only nod to Art Deco is the hotel exterior & the wall clock in Reception.
1. 1st evening -8-20pm - At dinner No offer to take a drinks order, just an unchilled jug of water dumped on the table: jet propelled waiter, who didn't know his winelist, didn't offer to let us taste the wine: paid £4 extra for rump steak which was tiny, overcooked & dry. Roast potatoes were bullet-proof - had clearly been kept warm for a long time: carrots were cooked to a tasteless pulp, salmon tasted greasy & the waiter tried to clear before we had finished eating! - sweet was cold, & aging - pastry base very suspect. Waiter clearly wanted us out the dining room room ASAP, as he relaid tables around us.
1st morning - a pleasant room & comfortable bed, but shower wouldn't switch off - took 10 mins wrestling by husband. At reception we requested a plumber fix it.
2nd dinner: Starters OK Main course - lamb - dry, gravy- tasteless, vegetables had been simmering since October, croquettes were frozen & barely warmed; sweet was bought-in lemon meringue pie with stodgy lemon & very stale pastry, pouring cream - on the turn. The single waiter,( as in previous evening) was also Receptionist, Wine waiter, barman. We declined coffee.
I developed food poisoning over night (don't know cause & not accusing any one). The manager (Andy) said we coulld keep the room for 2 more hours aftercheckout time, 11am, to let me try & rest, which was very kind. he forgot, however to tell us there would be no water in our room - no loo, sink or shower !!! Great when you have acute gastric illness. Husband

This is just a wee note to say a very big Thank You for the holiday breaks we enjoyed so much this year!
We had a fabulous time at Kings Manor, Edinburgh at the beg of this month. The room was beautiful(thanks for the upgrade!), food delicious, leisure facilities superb and everyone there so friendly and helpful. The bus service into town was also a great bonus - a quick flash of our over 60's bus pass took us all over Edinburgh.
Merry Christmas to you all and best wishes for 2010 - keep up the excellent service you provide. No doubt we'll be in touch again soon - definitely more bookings are on our 2010 agenda.

And a Happy and Prosperous New Year to you and your family as well.

Used Classicbritain for the first time to book a 2nights for the price of one at the Kings Knoll Hotel in Oban. Wasn;t disappointed with either Oban or the hotel.Hotel was quiet, due to it being the end of the season, but never the less, the owners made us welcome and provided great service during our two day stay. We intend to return next year at the start of the holiday season, perhaps April / May.

Would definitely recommend and use again.

gavin mcclune from east kilbride said the following on 2 Nov 2009:

this was the first time we used classic britain, the on line proceedure was fine, confirmation arrived but unfortunately the hotel had no record of this when we arrived.they were also full and we were left with no accomodation.the hotel were very helpful, trying to contact classicbritain, with no success and eventually the hotel re arranged rooms and we were able to stay.Very disappointed in classicbritain, they didnt want to know, will not use them again.

Reply from Classic Britain:

Dear Mr McClune
Thank you for taking the time to use our guestbook. Having spoken to both yourself on the phone, and with the hotel, the hotel confirmation email seems to have gone astray and for this we apologise.
As I said on the phone, no-one from the hotel contacted us about this and the only time we knew about it is when you placed this guestbook entry. I find it rather unfair to say we didn't want to know when the fact is that we actually didn't know anything about the problem.Once we saw your entry we immediately contacted you and the hotel - incidentally the hotel has asked me to forward their apologies.
Kind regards

A Drennan from Murrayfield Hotel Edinburgh said the following on 27 Oct 2009:

Easy booking and free upgrade again well done!!. This was a great hotel with wonderful rooms, amazing food and great sevice. The hotel has a great location with a bus stop outside it is only a 4mins journey to the centre of town. I will return to this hotel again every time i stay in edinburgh. This is the best yet and we have stayed in another four including the Hilton Haymarket.

kevin cassidy said the following on 18 Oct 2009:

First time using classic britain. Booking easy and room upgrade resulted in an ecxellently appointed club room. Only downside was the hotels confusion over deducting dinner costs from one room and charging for the other, but sorted out eventually. Tip is to make sure you get a copy of any bills and receipts incase of difficulty. Will definitly use again!

Helen MacRae from Aberdeen said the following on 16 Oct 2009:

First time user of your company. The online booking was fairly straight forward. Looking forward to a pleasant break.

Marion Baxter from Alloa said the following on 15 Sep 2009:

The booking was very easy to make, but was upset that payment had not been taken prior to arrival as it was a present for my parents. It was rather embarassing to have my mother phone me and tell me it wasnt paid. Maybe your confirmation should not state voucher and maybe letter instead, as a voucher to me is something that is pre paid. Rebecca in customer sales can be rather cutting on the phone and doesnt take constructive critisism very well.

Reply from Classic Britain:

Dear Ms Baxter. Thank you for taking the time to complete our guestbook. Rebekka does remember your call and what was said. Apologies for the misunderstanding however, as Rebekka stated, our biggest selling point is that we do not take payment upfront. This is advertised on the homepage and on all of our advertising. This is also mentioned in the terms and conditions.Kind regards Raymond McMillan - Product Manager

Evelyn Marsden from Fife said the following on 15 Sep 2009:

Having had difficulty understyanding the special package deal for the Whitehorse Inn at Balmedie on the website,I phoned you for assistance. I had a very good response from your staff and they eventually got me sorted. Thank you so much for your help. Looking forward to our break.

Mrs B McAdam from Marine Troon said the following on 7 Sep 2009:

Making booking was made very easy due to very helpful& pleaseant staff.

Mrs Anne Mitchell from Galston said the following on 6 Sep 2009:

When we arrived at the Friars Carse Hotel Dumfries we were told our arrival dates had been put in wrong by central reservations. This was not a problem as Fraser on reception fixed us up with a superior room and provided us with a drinks and wine at dinner to make up for our inconvenience. Thank you Fraser for all your help.
We enjoyed our stay at the hotel. The food in the restaurant was lovely and the staff were very good, and you did not feel as if you were getting rushed to finish your meal.
We had been upgraded to a superior room and it had lovely views of the countryside.
One thing which I think could be improved is some of the decor in the main lounge as it was looking a bit tired.
If you are looking for a relaxing weekend away at a reasonable price this hotel will suit you.

Chris Cook from sunderland said the following on 1 Sep 2009:

We have just returned from a last minute bank holiday break at the hotel and feel the need to share a number of concerns. First impressions count a lot and whilst we did not pay premium rates our booking via Classic Britain confirmed a free room upgrade. This was not allocated to us however very polite staff indicated that it was because of it being a last minute booking all other rooms having been taken for the evening by wedding party guests. This you can understand however our room left a lot to be desired in terms of it's cleanliness / overall decor /stained carpets / remnants of previous occupants / cracked handbasin / scarmy bath and stained toilet. Cleanliness of bedding / towel redeemed the moment and staff were able to allocate us a change of room following day which whilst pleasant in its decor still had remnants of previous occupant / very smelly toilet macerator. As wedding parties were on both weekend days it was not until the monday morning when we were able to enjoy the fine rooms illustrated on hotel website. Food standards at dinner were no problem however eating in the conservatory / ballroom for breakfast where once again the decor is looking very tired meaant that we felt secondary to the the wedding party guests. It's such a shame as staff were very helpful and polite / the fixture and fittings let down what was meant to be a relaxing break.

Helen from Lancashire said the following on 31 Aug 2009:

Mr & Mrs Percy said the following on 28 Aug 2009:

Katie, I'd just like to thank you again for everything you've done for us. We were so happy with how you dealt with our views on our stay at Airth and are delighted with how you kept in touch with us and worked to reach a conclusion. First class customer service.

I took my mum with me for the overnight on Wednesday 19th August and the staff were just fantastic. We were speechless at how they took care of us from the minute we arrived until we left.

The service was exceptional. The room was,,, wow and the meal and breakfast was lovely. My mum really enjoyed her overnight and she's wanting one of her sisters to renew her wedding vows there and another cousin to get married there,, hee hee.

Thank you once again for everything you done Katie and if you have a manager,,, please show her this email as we're so pleased with everything you done. Your approach was spot on, you listened, empathised and took the matter in hand and didn't make us feel that we weren just moaning or time wasting.

Thanks again,,

No complaints at the initial contact with Classicbritian where Katie dealt with my problem of booking on line with politeness and patience. Arranged my four day break at the Huntly Arms Hotel, Aboyne and sent confirmation by e-mail as promised. Disaster on arriving at the Huntly Arms Hotel who had no record of our booking. Situation only saved by Debbie the receptionist who phoned around and secured us Bed and Breakfast Accommodation for the night and arranged a room for us next day.
Any fault in the hotels fabric was more than compensated by the attention and politeness of the staff and the quality of the food, Debbie as already mentioned and Kamil in the Restaurant and of course the Chef .Perhaps a return e-mail from the Hotel to yourselves would eliminate this probblem

Reply from Classic Britain:

Dear Mr Smith
Thank you for taking the time to enter your comments in our guestbook.
We have noted your comments regarding your booking at the Huntly Arms Hotel and how the hotel seemingly had no record of it.
From our records, you booked the hotel on our site on the 29th July at 10.12pm. At this point a confirmation email of the booking was sent both to yourself and to the hotel, with the same booking details.
The email was received by the hotel successfully.
On receipt of the email, it is up to the hotel to enter the booking into their reservation system. Unfortunately we do not have any control over whether a hotel does this or not.
The hotel can also view bookings on our extranet system at any time therefore if they have not checked their emails they can still check the booking online.
Please accept my apologies for the inconvenience encountered and I have contacted the hotel to ensure this does not happen again.

Booking on the website was easy and confirmation was almost instant. So far so good! However, on arrival at the hotel they had no record of the booking - said this was not unusual!! The hotel management really pulled out the stops and saved the day by allocating a superior room and throwing in a bottle of wine for our trouble. Full marks to the hotel; not so many marks for Classic Britain!
