June Cannon from Dunblane Hydro said the following on 29 Jul 2010: This was our first time booking through Classic Britain and would definately use them again. Everything went smoothly with the booking and the hotel was stunning. There was a slight problem with not being able to use the water later on in the morning of both days, due to the hotel being so busy! Leisure Centre is also slightly dated. |
pauline alexander from fraserburgh said the following on 28 Jul 2010: classic britain have never let us down, so easy to arrange or cancel accomodation, have used a few times now and if possible will always use in future, hotels always lovely, thanks for a great service |
David Fry from Saltcoats, Ayrshire, Scotland UK said the following on 26 Jul 2010: Had a holiday cancelled and my wife and I decided we needed a few days away for ourselves. You sent me an E - Mail and included was the Angus Hotel, Blairgowrie. We decided to book and the booking went through with no problems. We are well pleased. Thankyou. |
Paul Davidson from Manchester said the following on 23 Jul 2010: Had a great mid week break at The Auchen Castle Hotel. The Hotel was fairly quiet and ideal for a short break. Even though few staff were on duty, there were no delays in service. I was informed that the PAG Hotel Group is in liquidation but this did not affect the running of the hotel or our stay. The room was small but immaculately clean. Food was superb and very well presented. Views were brilliant especially from dining room where we had a table ajacent to the window. Excellent value for money. Only one small problem was on departure in that the electronic credit card machine failed to operate. Will go back there or try the Castle Venlow, the other hotel in the group.

Kathleen Tierney from Glasgow said the following on 21 Jul 2010: Just spent two nights at Castle Venlaw on Summer Specials Break. Found everything very good. Room given was on top floor with views across Peebles. Very spacious room with sofa, armchairs and tv + DVD player. Bathroom and room in older style but very comfortable. On second night we were asked to move on grounds of health and safety, due to an electrical problem affecting some areas lights. David, who was on duty was very apologetic and moved us to a 4 poster room with very modern bathroom. The food was of a modern style but of good quality. We found the staff very pleasant and friendly and hope to visit again at some point. |
Julie from Scotland said the following on 12 Jul 2010: Booked on the Friday to stay on the Saturday. Much cheaper than any other late room web site. Loch Fyne hotel in Inveraray was fab although didn't eat dinner there. Breakfast was great and the pool, sauna and spa was perfect to finish our one night break. |
amanda connell and samuel rainey from falkirk said the following on 4 Jul 2010: We stayed over night for our anniversary at Dunblane Hydro and had 5 complaints about our room. It totally wasted our anniversary and we wont be going back. |

purdieno1 from Scotland said the following on 16 Jun 2010: Queensferry Hotel,North Queensferry, booked 4nights late deal DBB 17th to 21st May,arrived and booked in,bedroom very nice.Went down for dinner had a three course meal very poor and then was presented with the bill, tried to explain to the blue suits in recption that we booked through Classic Britain and I had given them my copy of the booking, told to see the manager in the morning but he was not there, left a message saying there was an allowance of £20 per head for dinner, but he would wave the extra we had spent the night before, tues and wed night we did not spend the £20 as the starter and main coarses were nearly uneatable, but surprise ,surprise the thursday night meal was first class, well presented and cooked to perfection it is obvious that the top chef had either returned from holiday or he covers the weekend, the service was still slow due to Ithink it was a bus party, each night it took us about two hours to get our meal because the bus parties and conference bookings were served first.Friday morning arrived at desk to pay and was presented with a bill for £370,explained to the blue suit that my booking was DBB £300 and my copy was behind the desk, she then found it and charged me the £300,no apology or explanaton for the overcharge,I then Questioned her rgarding my expenditure on the meals which for the two nights Tues/Wed came to about £60 instead of the £80 which I was allowed as they were rubbish she then said my booking was £75 per night for 4 nights,at this point she reminded me that I had booked on a Late Offer inferring that my wife and I were not as important as the other guests.I filled in the questionaire which was left in the Bedroom and I have been waiting on a response from the manager which did not come.I trust that Classic Britain will inform the company of my concerns |

kerrie white from glasgow said the following on 31 May 2010: My husband and I stayed at king robert in bannockburn near stirling, this was a 3 star hotel with 6 star service, food was brill, hotel was spotless and added with jacuzzi in the bathroom made it that little bit special. Food was amazing, drink very competive, entertaiment was excellent. Overall an excellent stay, would recommend this to anyone |
john preston from Southend on sea said the following on 31 May 2010: my wife and i ,and two friends stayed for 2 days at the Whitehall Hotel in broxton,Stansted .the room was fine although you could hear the aircraft.the restaurant unfortunatly was terrible food was overcooked to the point of being burnt Side vegetables non existant until we complained .Breakfast was of not a much better standard .Nice place to sleep but not eat. |
Kathleen Stewart from Dundee said the following on 24 May 2010: We stayed at the Aston Hotel Dumfries for 4 nights. On arrival we were upgraded to a larger room. Staff were very attentive and Terry in the dining room was great. The menu had a great choice of food which came beautifully cooked and presented. Housekeeping staff were very helpful and the rooms were of a high standard. Well done to all staff and thanks to Classic Britain for booking us in |
tom logan from coatbridge said the following on 20 May 2010: only the second time i have used classic britain and i am impressed with how simple and effecient you have dealt with our bookings excellent work |
Sylvia MacFadyen from Boat of Garten said the following on 16 May 2010: For a 4 star Hotel the total Ambience was somewhat lacking and we were rather Ddsappointed - hotel in state of refurbishment and no warm of welcome by management left to find ones own way and get on with it however food was reasonable and the waiter from Stornoway was nice. |
Sylvia MacFadyen from Ballachulish Hotel said the following on 16 May 2010: Delightful friendly hotel - food was excellent and Mr. F. Chalmers the Operations Manager and his staff, went out of their way to make sure everything was ticking over smoothly - a visit to this Hotel is indeed worthwhile and the scenery is outstanding. |

Anne058 from Onich Hotel, Onich said the following on 12 May 2010: We booked a 2 night DBB and stayed 22nd/23rd April. I booked a Superior room and what a view, the room had a balcony overlooking the Loch, it was fantastic, room very spacious, comofrtable bed, food was delicious and could not fault the service, we cannot wait to go back, one of the best weekend breaks that we have had, thank you Classic Britain. |
Aileen from South lanarkshire said the following on 1 May 2010: We stayed at the Murraypark Hotel in Crieff which was fabulous. The room we had (Room 15)was freshly decorated and spotlessly clean. We were DBB and the breakfat and the evening meal was fabulous so much so we could not eat our dessert on any of the 2 nights. The staff are all friendly and the manager is active within the hotel, he assists in the bar, on reception and is also hands on in the restaurant. We did visit Crieff Hydro during our stay but much prefer the home and friendly approach of the Murraypark |
John Birnie from Percy Arms Otterburn said the following on 27 Apr 2010: Good rural location with a variety of places to visit locally. Hotel suffers from a bit of faded grandeur and staff need training on how to charge for 2nts DB&B with a 3rd nt b&b free as information given resulted in overcharge! Food good. |
John Mackenzie from DG5 4QF said the following on 26 Apr 2010: Very efficient web site and pleasant staff on telephone - we look forward to our stay in Edinburgh on 6&7th May |
Norma Gillespie from Drymen, Scotland said the following on 23 Apr 2010: My husband and I have just returned from a very enjoyable, 4 night midweek, stay at the Crabwall Manor Hotel, Chester. Room 9, was a large comfortable room, with a four poster bed, and access to two balconies. The hotel is in a quiet location, next to a care home and farm and is very convenient to Chester. We used the park and ride facility at Sealand Road as we heard parking could be a problem in the city centre. We found the meals of a very high standard and the staff very helpful. We enjoyed the swimming pool and hot tub facilities. We had a problem with our room telephone, but this was repaired instantly and one evening our sweet order was overlooked, but these things happen and on this occasion was dealt with courteously. Overall we thought our stay was extremely good value. |
Doreen Swan from Percy Arms Hotel, Otterburn said the following on 21 Apr 2010: Was disappointed with hotel. Was in the room pictured on the website - which had dirty tiles round shower area and a badly cracked/broken bath panel. Towels and bedding clean. If not overtly dirty, the hotel certainly felt a bit grubby. Bed uncomfortable with very poor quality pillows. We cut our 4-day mid-week break down to 3 as a result. However, have to say that hotel were very fair and only charged for the three nights. Wouldn't go back to hotel but would definitely try Classic Britain again. |
Mr & Mrs N. Suddon from Thainstone House Hotel, Inverurie said the following on 20 Apr 2010: Just returned from a 4 day break, disapointed about pool being re-decorated but was recompensed by being allocated the Bridal Room with 4 Poster Bed and Jacuzzi. Thanks to Deputy Manager Graham for his prompt action. Food, Staff all lst. Class. Would use your hotels again. |

C.Coulthard from Durham said the following on 2 Apr 2010: stayed at the Buchanan Arms hotel in mar 2010.Location and cleanliness good.No mirror in room.On request staff brought a small table top mirror which they had taken from the laundry room. Bathroom lighting was so poor could not see to shave or put on make up. Service on first night so slow we chose not to have dessert after two hours in dining room. Leisure facilities good. |

C.Jarvis from Loch Fyne Hotel,Inverary said the following on 28 Mar 2010: My husband and I just spent a lovely weekend at this hotel.Would recommend it, staff were very pleasant. Hotel was warm and friendly and in a lovely spot overlooking Loch Fyne but there are very few rooms that enjoy this view. We were in room 10 in the main part of the hotel , was a bit noisy at night as we were up stairs next to doors leading to the back of hotel. Checked our booking and it said we should have recieved an upgrade don't think this was the case. Can't compare as we did not see the other rooms.Room was ok but had a side view onto the top of the pool roof, no flat screen tv or satelite channels. Our booking included a meal on one night. Food was excellent. Lounge area is comfortable with lovely views overlooking the loch.Location is very good just a short walk to the town. Would book with again with Classic Britain. |
Catherine Miller from Glasgow said the following on 26 Mar 2010: I've made many bookings with Classic Britain and find their service excellent. The website is fast and very easy to use. |
K McNeil from Glasgow said the following on 23 Mar 2010: I wouldn't recommend using this site. Booked a 2 night break and arrived at hotel only to find it was undergoing refurbmishment, which we had not been warned about. As I currently have ill health this spoiled the holiday for me as there was noise going on all day when I needed to rest. Would have booked elsewhere if we had been warned. On return it took 5 days to hear back from Classic Britain after sending two emails.
Reply from Classic Britain
Dear K McNeil
Thank you for taking the time to enter your comments in our guestbook. Re your stay - the hotel has been taken over by new owners who informed us that they intended to refurbish parts of the hotel. Unfortunately we were not informed when they would commence. If we had known we would have let you know and placed details in the noticeboard section of the hotels page. As regards your 2 emails, we can only trace 1 email received which we answered within 24 hours. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience this caused you Kind regards Raymond McMillan Hotel Product Manager

Elizabeth and Donald McLeod from Lanarkshire said the following on 18 Mar 2010: Spent two wonderful days at the Balgeddie House Hotel, Glenrothes. On arriving at the hotel we were allocated our room on the 2nd floor and as I have mobility problems (I should have intimated this when I booked)my husband requested a change of room. The staff were absolutely fantastic in dealing with us and even gave us an upgrade to an executive room, which was beautiful and very spacious. . The food and service were first class and all the staff were extremely friendly and eager to please. The hotel and gardens are very well maintained and a pleasure to be in. We look forward to staying at the hotel again and will most definately book through classic britain for our breaks. |

Mrs Pat McNeil from Scotland said the following on 11 Mar 2010: Booked the Stotfield Hotel, Lossiemouth for an overnight break but we were so impressed we booked for another night. Our room was very good, a wee bit tired but spotless with fantastic views over the beach. However it was the staff and food that did it!!! Cannot praise the food highly enough - our evening meals were outstanding. Do not be put off by the 2 star rating, their service was excellent. |

Nicola Liddell from STIRLING said the following on 2 Mar 2010: We booked with Classic Britain for 2 nights at the Isle of Glencoe hotel. It was a great break away. The room we were allocated to on arrival heating wasn't working and we were upgraded to a family room with a beautiful view. The food and staff were excellent as were the leisure facilities. Would definately book with C.B again. |
Lorna Houston from North Ayrshire said the following on 26 Feb 2010: Have used Classic Britain on various occasions and will continue to do so as there service, staff and deals are the best you can get. Have checked other websites and none of them can compete with C.B. Came back from the Ballachulish Hotel a couple of weeks ago and was a bit disappointed that I was served cold food twice within a two day stay but this is quite obviously no fault of C.B. but the hotel itself. Left feedback at the hotel and mentioned this and have never heard anything from them even though they have my contact details! This will not put me off using C.B. and have just booked another short break with them to go away to Isles of Glencoe and I know this is absolutely fabulous as have been variosu times now. |
Jean tait from Biggar ML126PW said the following on 25 Feb 2010: First time we have used Classic Britain & I found the site very easy to use. We had to cancel because of inclement weather & re-book with no hassle. Now looking forward to our short break |
Cecelia from Edinburgh said the following on 22 Feb 2010: We've booked several times through Classic Britain on line and have found it easy to use, fast and efficient. The deals have all been excellent. This last time (19/21 Feb) the Dunalistair Hotel in Kinloch Rannoch gave us a beautiful room and wonderful food and all for considerably less than if booked through the hotel. A great service which we are recomemnding to friends and will use again. Thank you. |
ANN CROWE from Regent Hotel, Oban said the following on 21 Feb 2010: Sorry this is so long - there was so much wrong! We stayed 15/16 Feb '10, & experienced the MOST disappointing break ever 1/10: I would urge Classic Britain to distance themselves from this hotel until it is refurbished, their staff trained & focus to customer service & value for money given serious attention - to explain this - The hotel public areas are very tired & need refurbishment urgently: the only nod to Art Deco is the hotel exterior & the wall clock in Reception. 1. 1st evening -8-20pm - At dinner No offer to take a drinks order, just an unchilled jug of water dumped on the table: jet propelled waiter, who didn't know his winelist, didn't offer to let us taste the wine: paid £4 extra for rump steak which was tiny, overcooked & dry. Roast potatoes were bullet-proof - had clearly been kept warm for a long time: carrots were cooked to a tasteless pulp, salmon tasted greasy & the waiter tried to clear before we had finished eating! - sweet was cold, & aging - pastry base very suspect. Waiter clearly wanted us out the dining room room ASAP, as he relaid tables around us. 1st morning - a pleasant room & comfortable bed, but shower wouldn't switch off - took 10 mins wrestling by husband. At reception we requested a plumber fix it. 2nd dinner: Starters OK Main course - lamb - dry, gravy- tasteless, vegetables had been simmering since October, croquettes were frozen & barely warmed; sweet was bought-in lemon meringue pie with stodgy lemon & very stale pastry, pouring cream - on the turn. The single waiter,( as in previous evening) was also Receptionist, Wine waiter, barman. We declined coffee. I developed food poisoning over night (don't know cause & not accusing any one). The manager (Andy) said we coulld keep the room for 2 more hours aftercheckout time, 11am, to let me try & rest, which was very kind. he forgot, however to tell us there would be no water in our room - no loo, sink or shower !!! Great when you have acute gastric illness. Husband |

Reply from Classic Britain:
Dear Mr McClune Thank you for taking the time to use our guestbook. Having spoken to both yourself on the phone, and with the hotel, the hotel confirmation email seems to have gone astray and for this we apologise. As I said on the phone, no-one from the hotel contacted us about this and the only time we knew about it is when you placed this guestbook entry. I find it rather unfair to say we didn't want to know when the fact is that we actually didn't know anything about the problem.Once we saw your entry we immediately contacted you and the hotel - incidentally the hotel has asked me to forward their apologies. Kind regards Raymond McMillan Product Manager |

kevin cassidy said the following on 18 Oct 2009: First time using classic britain. Booking easy and room upgrade resulted in an ecxellently appointed club room. Only downside was the hotels confusion over deducting dinner costs from one room and charging for the other, but sorted out eventually. Tip is to make sure you get a copy of any bills and receipts incase of difficulty. Will definitly use again! |

Re your comments, when you completed your questionaire regarding the hotel where you stayed, you opted to remain anonymous and therefore your name is not shown.
